Halo: Reach

i dunno if there is a problem with my console or somethiong cause noone of you guys says anything about bad framerate. I found it hard to play and VERY annoing. Im gonna test it at my friends place today. Its unplayable.

Still going through level 6 and I'm really liking this game. As of now I'd have to say it's my second favorite Halo (1,3, ODST, Wars, Reach) to CE. And it will be hard for a Halo to ever top CE because that brought so many new things to consoles, so that's not even a fair comparison.

It's just pretty epic, and the extremely nice visuals make it more fun to play. The full res particle buffer is awe inspring. The ragdolls are crazy too. More than that, so far the game has a nice sense of "cool" which is so key.
Blasting through space, then landing on a covenant ship and fighting to the bridge, where you fight another battle with an awesome space backdrop,
stuff like that . The core gameplay is a blast.

This blow Halo 3 so far out of the water it's not even funny. It's not bogged down with some of the terrible level 3 had.

After the 1st mission I was tempted to write about how the game ain't all that for me, just as I suspected it wouldn't be. Then I played the 2nd mission and was still unimpressed. Last night I played the next couple of missions and had to drag myself away for sleep.

Then I dreamt about it.

I don't dream about games.

But I dreamt about this one last night. It's kinda vague now, but it was a 'story based' dream.

Anyway, came home this afternoon to pick up a couple of documents for work and couldn't help myself firing it up "for half an hour". Well, 2 hours later I'm quickly writing this before getting back to the office. :/

Reach has gotten under my skin. I'd go as far as to say that, while I've never really gotten the whole "Halo is da best game evar" thing (having only played a couple of them), Reach really is for me one of da best games evar ;)

The framerate seems pretty good to me. It's no COD4, but seems quite smooth with a lot of action. The cut scenes are a different story.

I think it'd be pretty boring for me to play through solo, but co-op is great fun. Still not one of my all-time favourites, and no Halo is, but the game is really well done. A very good shooter for co-op and multiplayer.

Got my Legendary Edition today & played 4 player system link co-op with few of my buddies and finished the most of the chapters. And my God....the Swordbase level literally crawls while running in splitscreen.

Also Legendary difficulty is cheap as hell, its basically enemy health +100, your health -100 and enemy accuracy & range increased to 11 (this is a killer when you realize that you are always under equipped compared to your enemies). The worst part is when the game thinks its fair to put up multiple numbers of those huge shield wielding aliens in an indoor environment. All this wouldn't have been this big of an issue had the AI not been this slippery, its basically I shoot & they roll/dive.

I just can't see how someone can pull off a solo Legendary run in this game without wasting countless hours & progressing at snail's pace (since there's an achievement for that).

I'm on the 6th mission on my Legendary solo run and thus far I 'm not progressing at snail's pace...the game flows just great - have you ever played a Halo game on Legendary? seeing someone calling Legendary a cheap difficulty is definitely a new one - if you are rushing and trying to play Rambo on the Elites of course they're gonna rip you to pieces, take you time always have a short and a medium/long range weapon to be able to handle any situation, use the armor abilities and grenades wisely and don't rush on the enemies.

If it's your first playthrough then you should start the game on Heroic and then when you'll learn the controls, guns, AA and the missions better then you should go for the Legendary Solo run.

There's no way I could do legendary solo. My brother and I couldn't even get past the first batch of elites in the first level. Once we got Robert in we got through and progressed at a decent pace, though it was still very hard at points.

I was wondering something.

How did the Covenant get a 5km ship inside the atmosphere without anyone noticing?

I had major problems in the later missions. At that point my console had been on for ~5 hours straight so I figured it might've been overheating or something (does the XB360 throttle in cases of overheating?).

tested on 2 different consoles today and same thing...its a joke for me.

Well if my console wasn't malfunctioning then it's a joke for me as well. Surprising that this wasn't mentioned in any reviews I read.

Haven't used my Xbox in months up until now, and I'm super spoiled at this point. Coming from 60FPS with gobs of AA to this is jarring.

agree, sadly i feel like this is gonna to be first halo i will not finish. Im currently at New Alexandria mission i dunno if its far in game or not but so far game is struggling to maintain playable level of fps, and whole experience is far from pleasant. Shame none of the reviews mention that.

Are you playing solo or with friends? I was playing with 2 friends, one in the same house and one about an hour's drive away. Perhaps it was a networking issue.
