Halo 2 for X-Box 2?

As you sure already know, Halo 2 release was moved back to a TBA date. Could it be that this is an indication that the X-Box 2 launch date is really Q4 2004? Would make some sense now. That would give the devs some time to overwork the engine and the textures.

What's your opinion?

UPDATE: Apparently there was some brief confusion, as the Web page for Halo 2 no longer says the release date is indefinite and now reads "March 2004." Breathe a sigh of relief now.

My opinion on the Xbox2 launch remains the same. Unless this is the most secretive project in world history (which it isn't), I can't see how a 2004 launch would do anything but cripple the X2 and royally screw with the current 'box.

I doubt Bungie would shift H2 over to the Xbox2.. they've obviously finished the engine coding and are well into the content creation stage. It would be a massive waste of resources to rework everything.

However, like Mario and Nintendo, I think the Master Chief will need to grace the Xbox 2 launch in some form to make it successful from the go.

And if Halo 2 comes out March 2004 and the Xbox 2 launches November 2005, that'd only be a year and a half (20 months or so) to finish up Halo 3...
