GT4 VS REALITY

It seems(i hope) PD finally added some form of mipmapping/filtering as the side grass-patch looks less grainy.

Gt4 was at a game show this week end in France. I do not know which version it is, but concerning flaws like shimmering, it is no better than GT3. If you liked GT3, which is my cas, GT4 looks superb, but you may not like it for the same reasons as GT3.

Actually I was kinda miffed on the water. Rest of the scene looks great, though. ^_^ Don't think there's any BM in there. (Unless the sewage systems are routed directly to the river, of course. :p )

On the remote, do you know if they redesigned the buttons on that thing, or have they left them all basically the same shape and aligned in a grid so it's all confusing and you to hunt down what you want EVERY time you use it?!

yeay man. saw GT4 videos and well, IQ problems are still obvious. that was why i am hoping those screens are real. improved and filtered for the real game, rather than just PR shots.

That would make it 770 cars!

Actually 778 :D

</nitpicking>

holy sarah jessica parker... thats a whole lot of cars....
of course, when u think about the fact that MANY of them are crappy unknown japanese family cars, then it sounds a bit less impressive... still, that's a whole lot of cars...

Actually I was impressed with how few Family Cars there seemed to be. Most of the Japanese cars tend to be sports cars (Supra, Skyline, RX-7, NSX, Lancer Evo, etc.). Admitidly you've got the Suzuki, Daihatsu & Daewoo but they are only a few :)

The Madest car I noticed was the "Toyota Prius Rally Car ‘02", isn't that a semi-electric car? I mean an electric rally car? Bonkers!

Again there's a lot of theos Nissan Skyline GT-R's.
I hated them iN GT3, 'cos at one point it seemed that all I got for price cars was those GT-R's.
I can't tell them apart from one other, then again I've never been good at cars, but still I enjoy GT and many other driving games very much.

It's a hybrid car (petrol engine/electric motor). I heard, it charges the battery while driving and braking (!) and then uses the electric motor to boost acceleration. IMHO quite nifty ...

In GT Concept there was a hybrid car Honda Dualnote (I think it'll be in GT4 too).
It was a good car there, butthe hybridness didn't seem to affect the gameplay in any way.

On reflection a performance hybrid car doesn't seem THAT strange. As I recall last years concept version of the next Skyline had electic motors built into the hubs for added accelleration, and it looked very nice. It's just that the Primus is sold as an ecconimical eco car, so the idea of a high performance rally version seems a bit weird :D

I wonder if PD is going to scale back the Lancer Evos for GT4, cause they were a bit of a 'cheat' in GT3. Like, race the oval 25 times at the beginning, buy an Evo 6, then cruise through 3/4ths of the game with ease.

The eject and load tray now operates via the remote.
Also the Power ON/OFF can be controlled via remote, AFAIK.

The most important thing though is that they've sorted out the problems with DVD playback, as the new model reportedly plays perfectly all the DVDs that have been making problems (skipping/stopping) on some of the old models.

I've also heard that the game starting is faster on the new model, as well that the noise is greatly reduced.

since the topic has come up here too, does ANYONE know whether progressive scan DVD playback is present in PAL machines, like it is in the new NTSC machines?

That wheel plus GT4 would seem to be more potent than heroin. The older wheel and GT3 was good enough already. No more, no more! We'll never come down from such a high~!  :D
