Gotham Knights

Yes.

Or they can shut up and just be happy playing only AAA Sony games... their choice.

Agree, however at the same time if you mean graphics, there are absolutely non-sony games that look amazingly great, on-par to say the least. With UE5 and other engines adoption giving even a wider array of great looking games.

Of course.. I'm just using them as an example since they are widely considered the best games on a visual level.

What does frame rate output have to do with Sony games?
Is framerate not a part of the "technical experience"? Are Sony games not highly regarded for their technical prowess? Are Sony fans not the ones mostly complaining at this point about it because their Sony exclusives look AND run better?

Sony games are rated highly for their combo of smart tech choices and industry leading art. I don't think "Sony fans" comprise some inherent group of people who consider it disappointing that a game seems to be heavily underperforming relative to it's output.

I never said anything about it being inherent.

I'm surprised that this being 30fps is getting so much traction on the web.

Im looking forward to the tech reviews of the console version and PC version to determine what the bottleneck is.

If I were to guess, I would assume that the devs made a few poor decisions during development (including aiming for 30fps on console w/RT) and it's probably not trivial to make a 60fps mode of the game by launch.

On paper, if the min spec PC version can hit 60fps with an R53600 and 1660Ti, then I would like to believe that there is some scalability in the engine for the consoles to have a mode to hit 60 as well...unless we find out that whatever backend simulation their co-op is using is really heavy on memory b/w or something...

Either way, Im looking forward to the tech reviews for this game and Plagues Tale Requiem this week 😁.

I still fail to see how Sony titles have any relevance to this discussion when almost every single title on the current consoles has a 60 fps option.
That's exactly why they're relevant to this discussion... If Sony can make better looking games, and they have 60fps options... then their fanboys expect that ALL games *in their opinion* which don't look the part must also be 60fps..

That's simply not the reality of how things work.. because not all teams and budgets are equal.

In the case of Gotham Knights there are people from XBOX and PS camp wishing there was a 60fps option. I suggest you drop this kind of pointless immature discussion.

I feel that this constant fixation on "Sony fanboys" brings the level of discussion very low.

Everyone who loves Sony's games arent also fanboys, people who love Sony games also love other games, there are people who dont love Sony games and either own XBOX or Playstation, and also people have expectations in general regardless who made those games because different modes are almost a default whether you are playing XBOX or Playstation games.

You are trying to force a senseless imaginary correlation between "Sony Fanboys" and people's overall expectations of 60fps/multiple mode gaming. If Sony managed to raise the bar high, it is what it is. They just succeeded in that which is great and they arent the only ones that raise the bar high. The subject of Fanboyism is irrelevant.

if you are insecure about a scenario of Sony raising the bar higher than others thus raising expectations, you are making a point about yourself, not about Sony "fanboys"

I never said there wasn't... Why are you getting so defensive about something perfectly logical that I said...

I never said ALL console gamers, I never said ALL fanboys... I'm simply calling out the fact that the people I've seen complaining about this issue on twitter and in forums are overwhelmingly Sony PS fanboys. I gave a perfectly logical reason as to why that might be the case... Their games have strong technical prowess.

And I don't see how you think I'm insecure about Sony raising the bar... Where am I trying to diminish what Sony has done? I'm simply saying not all developers can reach that height, and for various reasons..

Gamers are eager for last gen games to be dropped and current gen games to really hit... people are expecting more than what they're currently getting.. and if you disagree with that then I don't know what to tell you. It's also logical that when developers start pushing that interaction/fidelity... something will have to be sacrificed.

I'm not saying they can't expect more from Gotham Knights, nor am I saying they can't be disappointed... I'm simply saying that they're going to have to accept the reality that they wont always get both... and that goes for ALL gamers.

Except it's not Sony games, it's virtually every game available on the consoles.

And most of those games are last gen games...

Gotham Knights looks last gen sure... but again.. not all devs/budgets are created equal. There's plenty of games which don't perform as well as they should given their visuals... PC gamers deal with it all the time.

I don't know if Gotham Knights is doing something under the hood that is causing them to just lock it to 30 instead of 60... or whether it's just a complete shitshow technically because they're not great developers... In the end, it is what it is... and my entire point is that once current gen games start really pushing the consoles, they're going to have to accept there will be lower performance because something has to give. If they're acting like they are dead set on 60fps.. then they might not be happy with truly next gen games at 30 anymore.. which is ACTUALLY what what could end up holding "next gen" games back.

There is nothing perfectly logical in talking about "fanboy expectations" in this thread. It has nothing to do with it. We don't care about assumptions about who is a fanboy and what he/she wants.
We talk about games and their features. Some people want 60fps modes too and some want just 30fps with more detail. Its all there is.

You're awfully naive. Check twitter around this game sometime... There's nothing wrong with me calling out what I see. Again, I never said all people.. I've explained why I mentioned Sony fanboys specifically. The bigger tell is why you're getting so worked up over it. There's no reason for you to be so offended by me saying Sony fans expect better.

1) irrelevant with the thread

2) Twitter isn't a statistical gallop.

3) I dont care
1) Yes, it is relevant. This isn't a "technical Gotham Knights" thread... we can talk about the discourse around the game.. and I'm speaking about what I'm seeing online.

2)

3) You definitely appear that you do greatly care. A little too much perhaps?
