*God Of War 3 Thread v2.0 + Interview Stig Asmussen

I absolutely hate both of those ideas. Those would make even less sense than the already convoluted storyline.

If they decided to make a new game based around norse mythology, then that would be great. But bridging the two is trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

You can do anything creatively if you want to. Especially with mythology. I don't think we should pretend like they are both two alien worlds unable to be connected. If we, as humans, can come up with something as radical as the String Theory, I'm certain tying together Greek and Norse mythology wouldn't be extremely difficult.

I'm certain you've played far more convoluted games recently than God of War 3.

I'm sure I have played many games that are far more convoluted than God of War 3. Taking Kratos to norse mythology just seems like a way to shoehorn another sequel out of the series. It's wholly unnecessary. Sure, everything seems to be a sequel nowadays, but to me that's not a great thing. I'd rather see this guys make a new game set within norse mythology, but framed around a different character from scratch. That allows more creative freedom from a character, story and design standpoint. The further they get away from Kratos, the bigger the departures they can make from the God of War series. Even if it is another hack and slash game with a cinematic bend, they can change up the game play more because the expectations will be different without those stupid chains.

They've already done weapons without the chains. Sword of Olympus, Barbarians Hammer, The Bow.

The problem with creating a new series based around norse mythology is that is simply isn't a "popular" mythology to use, and honestly it'll be a hard sell to gamers. As much as you may not like it, this is a very fickle industry, so no matter how many hits you put out before, your next game could be a dud, especially if the fans can't identify with it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a sequel, as long as it's still fun, which is honestly the only thing that's important in a videogame, to have fun. I don't think we need to flood the market with fantastically well written stories, deep characters, and strong plots. I'm not even sure there's really a big market for that yet, since the industry is still in it's infancy.

It's okay to just be a game with a story and focus on the fun. Really, it is.

The only series which I believe has ever seen succeed in mixing up all the kind of mythologies effectively is the Tomb Raider series. But that's maybe because it fits the game. :???:

Actually there are more games that base their story around norse mythology than anything else...but yes I agree it isn't as popular. The GOW universe already has a few common elements from norse.

I just got pass the Labyrinth. The gore is not as bad as I imagined.

If I were to do a sequel, I'd get Kratos to build something instead of destroying everything. :)

You're a genius. I figured out how they can bridge Kratos to norse mythology.

Kratos tries to build Ikea furniture only to become enraged. You know the rest.

Genius ?

I'm done, great game ! Enjoyed it from start to end. Better puzzles than U2.
Only 1 sex mini game ?

Overall, my most favorite character is the Black Smith.

-_-

The Blacksmith God. I like his animation. For his size, he seems to be always fidgiting and tinkering. If I were Kratos, I would have tipped my toes to look into his hands ("WTF are you making ?! ... Can I keep it ?").

Overall, I thought they should not let Kratos destroy everything in his path (He did destroy everything, didn't he ?). It's less impactful. They should have let the players _try_ to keep certain characters alive, and the environments intact until the very end, when Kratos had to brush everything aside to take down the final boss.

A fantastic trip nonetheless.

You mean Blacksmith God, Smith God, or the God of blacksmiths... :devilish:

I will kill you

Yeah I liked him too. He was one of the most expressive characters in the whole game. Great acting in general.
Very strong and memorable personality.
I wish I had the option not to kill everyone in my path as well, I liked some characters. Especially Hephaestus

I felt sorry for him

Yeah I very much agree, Rip Torn's voice talent is by far the most engaging and interesting to me. You can tell he really put emotion into it without any pretending, the voice talent for Hades was also very good but he's very short lived for the story.

I am pretty sure he would have lived
had he not taken a swipe at Kratos (That old fool !). He was Pandora's father/creator afterall.

I think Kratos left one god(dess) be.
Aphrodites. Technically speaking, Athena died in an earlier game.

There are, of course, also all the other major-ish Gods left, that were never covered by the GOW games. They're still 'alive'. Take Pan - God of the Wild - Artemis - Goddes of ... hunting? Moon? Can't remember - and a few others. Demeter, Dyonisus... Ok, not really major but still, they were pretty important in the Greek Mythology.

I think the next game will see Aphrodites as the new head of whatever's left of the world. She will start recreating the world as she sees fit, i.e. lots of pink flowers, drapes everywhere ("Drapes, dah'rling, i want more drapes!!"), free make up for everyone ("because you're worth it"), lots of cupids shooting arrows at everyone, with the obvious world-wide orgy ensuing and subsequent STD epidemic. You will play as the hero that is trying to survive through different tasks while slowly dying of syphilis. Tragic yet exciting.
The new game will be R18 and tentatively titled God of Swabs.

Sorry, got off on a tangent there. I just remembered why i came to this thread. Started the game on Titan last night and God (of War) is it tough!! I'm at the something Trial, the one in 3 stages just in front of the 3 judges and darn i just can't get past the third stage. Heck, i was lucky to get past the second one, in fact i have no magic left. Uff!!

Yeah, that one is quite tough. Best advice is to try different weapons for different enemies. I'm not sure what did it for me, but I remember attacks with the R1 button are quite effective in keeping most enemies away from you. The larger ones need quick killing too.. Good luck!

So the Spartans Stand Tall site was updated...it's for the freaking new PSP game and no epilogue DLC.

*tear*

Hey, someone's loss of DLC, is anothers gain of a full new game!

Personally I hope they'll attempt a Move controlled God of War arena battler, or maybe even God of War themed Olympic Games or challenges with the Move controller, could be awesome. I bet some boss battles would make great Move controlled mini-games. :p

So they are going to milk the franchise for all it's worth now. :???:

I thought Ready at Dawn was also working on a console game?
