I can't see a UMD writer featuring. That goes against Sony's insistance of not allowing UMD's to be burnt by anyone but themselves, plus that'd be some expensive kit on top of a BluRay drive and everything else in there. 2 optical drives? Nah!

For PSP data portability they only need MemStick, which doubles as a memory card for PS3's saves - one system for all situations. Plus that ties in with Sony's media strategy such as MemStick slots on TVs. In GT5 you use your photo mode to save onto MemStick, then view the pics on your frined's TV thourgh his TV's MemStick slot, then on your PSP, and then plug the MemStick intoa printer and directly print the photos. Why complicate the matter with a writeable optical drive?

Just to show that real photos look much better than their equivalent CG effort above with the PSP.

The only difference is that those up there were concept designs from Sony. This PS3 mockup is a mockup and not from Sony. Simple huh :D

But it says Sony on the picture. :(

Anyway, even if that PS3 pic was real and was manufactured, the devils in the detail that should make it look more desirable than that CG. But on first impressions, the image looks flat and uninspiring. I'm sure many photoshop experts here can take that template and make it look much more desirable. :p

Can't say or remember seeing any of their concepts before. Is that PSP CG a SONY made concept?

    Yep.
And OK a Sony concept might not look real, but it sure as hell would look much less cheesy than that mockup...

True, but it's only page 12 of 18! Where are the other pages!

    This still looks better, IMO,

The PSP prototype was real, not CG. It's just hard to imagine how you'd control games on that thing.

Thanks for the other picture. I've noticed that the relative size of the optical drive, memory card slot, UMD drive, and memory stick duo slot are all wrong. Some are wrong by as much as 30%. So I think it's fake. I probably should have noticed sooner; I got two different size estimates when I measured based off two different points, but I figured it was my math. The second picture makes clear that it's a mistake. Whoever put together the picture probably eyeballed the various sizes.
