Yep .. I almost had the same experience as you Senile .. I installed Mandrake and eventually decided to play a game(in OGL). It was aweful and very very slow.

I tried to install new drivers for the GC and came unstuck.

I eventually reformatted the harddrive.

Thanks Pascal, I suspect my win was due more to a lack of letters than the quality of mine tho.

I haven't totally given up on getting the modem working. The mistake I've been making is probably trying to set it up while sober.

The ram arrived!

Now I have 715Mb free after Windows has loaded up.


& still haven't got the bloody modem working.
