Foxconn A6VMX audio issues

I can't get the Realtek audio drivers installed on my system.

I have a Foxconn A6VMX series mobo

I don't have a 3600 videocard, but I do have an Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT.

The R1.73 driver installation proceeds untill just near the end of the progress bar then a stop box appears saying

"Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure"

When I go to the device manager, right click and select update driver, nothing happens. When I double click it and press the reinstall driver button the device usage pulldown highlights "use this device (enable)", but there doesn't seem to be any activity anywhere.

Nothing seems to work!!

What am I gonna do? GRAWII won't wait forever!!

Hmm, it almost sounds like you're having hardware issues.

Rather than using their setup utility, try using Microsoft Devcon to install the driver using the INF file. It works for 2000, XP, 2003 and Vista (I use it a lot for various automation tasks) and is essentially a command-line interface to device manager.

Takes a bit of getting used to, but it might let you get the device installed if the GUI isn't working right.

youve checked the obvious what settings are the in the bios for onboard sound

could this be related - notice the awesomeness of foxconns translators

The pudding KB888111 should have been installed after HD audio driver, while the pudding is defaulted to be installed in the first instance during the process of installing the HD audio driver, so the error message comes out. When meet the error message, please try to find KB888111 under “add or delete programs” in Control Panel, remove this pudding and then reinstall the audio driver. Everything could be fine.

Note: when you need to install the pudding KB888111, you could try to find it in the audio driver after restarting the computer and then reinstall.

Epic LOL at the pudding! :D

I recognize that number, it's the Windows XP "patch" that enables the new Audio Bus topology stuff on newer Intel boards; that could certainly be it... I know all of our Thinkpad boxes need that patch before audio install, and I think our newest Dells are the same way.
