Forum Software Change!

I think everyone should have the right to correct their spelling mistakes etc. Maybe if after 10 posts you can edit the post for five minutes after posting or something like that?

Agreed and done. Newcomers now have time limited edit permissions.

I use the app ForumRunner on my iPhone. Since the update, it doesn't work anymore with B3D, stating an error message that this could be that the forum software plugin being outdated??

I use Tapatalk currently...but this app is shit.

ForumRunner is incompatible, sadly, with the new forum software. My currently only support Tapatalk as far as plugin-enabled alternative clients go.

I find the recent Tapatalk iOS client to be pretty poor, usability wise, so I feel your pain.

I love tapatalk on my Android. What's so poor about it say in comparison to other software?

Also, I haven't gotten multiquote to work yet. I select a couple of posts, click reply, and only the post I'm replying to gets quoted.
There is a button in the edit view (at least in the basic theme I'm using) that basically says, "insert quotes" that opens up a popup window (without actually inserting any quotes), which lets you edit and insert the quotes from there - at whichever point in your post the text cursor happens to be in...which can mess things up for you bigtime if the cursor is right in the middle of a block of text already.

This is cumbersome and impractical, IMO. It was better the way it functioned in the previous board software, IE insert all of the multi-quotes right away into your new post.

I must also say I've experienced some, very slight, lag when making a post. It just feels weird. It's nothing major though, not enough to make a fuss over. One has to wonder though, if the server gets clogged for whatever reason, how will that affect editing performance...? (I'm running IE9, Win8.1 64bit on a 4GHz Haswell, in case that has any bearing whatsoever on anything. :))

Found it. When the +Quote button is pressed, an "Insert Quote" button appears under this edit window that opens the quote-adding pop-up. Kinda weird and overkill. Why not just quote them all in to the edit way just like a single reply does?

Because this system allows you to multiquote across multiple threads. You can basically browse around the forum picking posts to quote then insert them all at once. It allows you to confirm all your selections are correct and also acts as a reminder that you clicked multiple.

Is that a feature people want? I suppose it's potentially better when creating new threads based off discussions in other thread, but it seems a low-frequency function to me and certainly less used than multiple quotes in the same thread.

Well you can "multi-quote" using just the Reply button when quoting from posts in the current view, so really it provides for both ways.

You're right! Although it jumps to the bottom. Would be nicer if added the quote but didn't jump. Or if it added all multi-quoted posts when you hit reply, which I think is the most user-intuitive option.

Multi-quote is a low frequency function to me and certainly used less that single reply :p

One last thing to plug XenForo quote systems. You can highlight a specific section of text in a post and it will give you buttons to Quote+ or Reply that specific selection instead of the whole post.

All these quoting options, and still no block quotes button in the editor toolbar... Makes me sad.

What's a block quotes button? Are you aware of the extra functions when you press the + button on the toolbar?

IIRC, it's the tooltip text for the button that used to wrap a selected block of text in quote tags.

Anyway, it's the button functionality I was missing, not the tooltip text, of course... Heh. ;)

As Malo says, press the + button on the editor toolbar and it's right there.

I've taken note of all the things everyone has mentioned in this thread and elsewhere, about what they don't like or would like to see changed.

I can't promise anything will actually happen to your request, but I will slowly look at them all, so don't worry if you think I've just glossed over or not replied to you if you've asked for or pointed something out.
