All i know is for the most part all the rpgs i play now are the rpgs i've played before with better graphics sometimes even worse game play. Instead of pushing out a new rpg every year or so take some time off . Make a huge rpg. But so far i can only find that on the pc

See? It would have been so much easier if you told what you honestly thought from the start rather than coming up with those....ahem..."solid" arguements. :)

thats what i've been saying all long . The first 6 ff are better than the last what 4 or 5 . Square has just been pushing grpahics and pretty cut scenes at us . They haven't changed the experiance at all . which was fine the first 6 times . Now its way old . Like with zelda , it takes longer for the games to come out and everyone feels diffrent for that . if it came out every year everyone would get tired of it .

The changed the battle engine (for the better) in FFX, and did the best job I've yet seen of getting rid of the old fixed 'level-up' system.

well then u should give it another try, 2 hours with the game means absolutely nothing....

the beginning of the game is a bit boring, but u r missing sooooooo much.

really, u should get over the linearity factor and really give it a try... the graphics can look a bit dated now, still it's miles better than 90% out there, and everything else is just so GOOD... the battle system has been reworked, u can change members in real time even during battles, and the sphere system is pretty ingenious as well...

I know what is your problem. You just happen to have a very closed mind, shut to other person´s ideas, passing off your opinions as facts, and adding stupid arguements to support them (you have to ask yourself if you´re really a fanboy, to me you are).

For example, FFX is a fantastic game in my opinion, and VII, VIII and IX were all different, all of them offering entirely different features, storylines, battle systems, characters, character development. You just base off your arguements on those games failing to replicate the feelings of nostalgia you felt when you were frikking 12 years old.

It´s not the same experience, since FFs have historically been fundamented on heavy storylines and different battle system (well, at least since III or IV), therefore offering completely different games each time.

Come on, I don´t have much respect for you right now, since all you do is throw BS at your arguement. Just give me ONE valid reason to think they´re not good games anymore. It´s a fact it´s not the same battle system, nor storylines, nor characters, nor how you build up those characters, so don´t give me that BS.

Final fantsy 7 , over use of fmv , ff8 played just like 7 with even more fmv , ff 9 ... very boring couldn't play through it .

I'm hardly closed minded . I try every game . If someone tells me they love it i go and at least rent it if its good i will buy it and beat it . This games just aren't good anymore . The series it self has been eclipsed by other rpg series . It also takes alot of story elements from past rpgs .

If u read my posts i own ever ff from 1-9 and just recently got 10 as a gift. I played 1-9 and i say the first 6 were the best of the bunch. Now its just like playing the first 6 with fmv . Sometimes they are worse and have les complex stories than the first 6 . Thats a step backwards and makes for worse games . Your right its not exactly the same but yet over the last 9 games you'd expect at least something to majorly change . Just like i respect the kid that only likes square rpgs , you too should respect mine .

Yawn, I'll say it again, the FMV sequences [and real time cutscenes] from 7 - 10 are no different than the sprites hoping around in 1-6. Take a stop watch, I dare you. Same 'watching' factor in every FF game.

As for the linear argument, you were on a straight path in every FF game.. for example, in IV you were restricted by where you could go on the world map by terrain obstacles (needed hovercraft, then airship, then airship with drill, then magma-proof airship, etc). Really, its no different.. people just have serious nostalgia goggles in regards to this stuff.

While I'll admit that I disliked 8 and 9 (with 4 being my favourite game of all time), 7 and 10 are certainly up there in my top 5 games evAR.

I'm not so sure about the time factor. It might come close only because of the time it takes the text to scroll giving everybody that would play it a chance to read the text. But every game is basicly a straight path some just give a better mask if u will of the strait path by adding side quests and other things that just don't happen in the ps2 ff games .

FF9 didn't even have that many FMV's. It had a bunch toward the start, then it had nearly none, then for the Alexander VS Bahamut (sheer awesomeness. Alexander gets the power he deserves. :D) they had 4-5 FMV's in a row... then it wasn't many at all again until the end.

And FF7 had a fantastic plot, the only catch was that there were a lot of loose ends that didn't get tied up until the last few hours of the game, and even then there were quite a few left open.

I really don't think FF7 really OVERused FMV. If you look at all of them on FF7PC, it's much less than one might remember after playing through the game. And a lot of them are perfectly sensible; animation in the prerendered backgrounds, for example - going up and down some elevators in Junon... etc. And the cinematic view entering the Gold Saucer... definitely worth it.

However, I will agree that FF8 was WAY overdone. There was FMV *EVERYWHERE* in that game...

For me there was to much fmv in ff7 , there was almost to much in pds .

Yes ff8 was over done .

This is it, how did a person like you ended up as a mod? Your way of thinking is completely in the line of a [fanboy]. Passing off opinions as facts, failing to make good arguements, instead basing your opinions on lies or very exagerated facts. You don´t support your arguements, all you do is make vague complaints, all the while putting on your nostalgia googles, and being proud of it.

Why did VII had an FMV overdose, for example? Or VIII? Both of them had over 35 hours of gameplay, and yet VIII only had 60 minutes of it, how can it be too much? And why is IX boring?

How has it been eclipsed by other RPGs? In what departments? And what parts of the stories in VII - X are recicled in every game?

Also, for God´s sake, have you even played the first 6 FFs? Or are you just a kid who just played FFII and III on his SNES? Going by the fact that FF I and II hardly had a story, it automatically proves your arguements wrong. Heck, every FF until VI had a very primitive dialogue (not to mention badly translated), unintentionally funny graphics and terrible sound.

How can the 32 bit and 128 bit FF be the same experience ? I don´t respect your opinion because it´s made up of false statements, unexisting facts, and one very screwed up nostalgic memory.

Well being a mod and having an opinion are two diffrent things . First off i'm 21 , I played ff 1 the day it came out on my nes . Did u ? When talking about games i like and i don't like its all opinion since even the facts can be taken both ways . You may call running around trying to lvl so u can beat the next boss game play time i called it a waste of time . All of the ranslated games of that time had bad dialogue just like the movies of the time. ) I never said a 34bit and a 128 bit ff would be the same experience , although aside from graphics they might very well be but i never brought that up so please don't put words in my mouth. I may have said that i believe the person i was talking would feel the same way about 32 bit games not being able to portray emotion compared to a 128 bit games , as he did with 8 and 16 bit games compared to 32 bit games. It would help to actually read what i post . Last thing , i've compared 7 and 8 to pds . anyway there are parts of 7 that happened way back when in phatnsy star 1 . I'd have to take a few mins to look it up which i really odn't have since i'm writing a paper and moving into a new apartment
