In the higher res video, you can see some of the labels on these things..

The two on the left are slightly disjoint from the others, and labelled as "extra" underneath as far as I can see ;)

The one on the left is labelled HDD, the one on the right is BD/DVD/CD as far as I can make out. (edit - actually, apparently the slot on the far right is the disc drive. So you're right, I think, the second 'box' in the middle is another HDD 'thing').

The round thingie on the left of the USB ports is marked "Boot SW" (well, actually, it looks like 'Foot SW' in the vid, but Boot SW would make a little more sense ;)).

They're to make it look technical. Al the most pieces of hardware use LEDs to show their awesomeness.

The one on the left is labled HDD, the one on the right is labled HDD(DEV). So I suppose the obvious guess would be the actual ps3 hdd on the left, and developer hdd on the right. And I'm not 100% sure, but I think those are buttons next to the bays on the right of each slot, maybe eject buttons or somthing.

    you have your GP0 + GP1 leds.
you have your drive select buttons and leds(switch between hdd and hdd-dev), and status leds.
you have a reset button, system(out), network(out), and last but not least power button.

foot sw, not sure what that is.

the C&M part is about the game mode featured in the game (full auto 2), Cat & Mouse.

Yeah I hope so too. It's up to developers AFAIK, and I doubt we will hear about M&KB support from sega (seeing they have platform/racing games). Hopefully some other devs can get on it: UT2k7, HL2, BIA3, COD3, etc.

All we know for sure is that the interface will support mouse and keyboard for email's, instant messenger, and web browsing.

It's an old sony tradition since PS1 days AFAIK, basicly it's meant to be connected to a huge switch which has to be placed on the ground so that you can activate it with your foot while your hands are busy playing the game. It's useful to trigger events while debugging or profiling.

Interesting, thanks for clearing it up. :) It almost sounds like a joke (im afraid to ask if it really is lol).
Foot SWitch makes sense though. lol

Any chance you can clear up the Friends menu on the dev kit? I'm really interested in that part. But of course, it's ok if you cannot.

Just another reminder about the mysteriously removed IGN interview where they referred to a SECRET FEATURE on the PS3.
Keep in mind that The Darkness is an FPS so they may easily be referring to a feature which may aid in aiming. They could be referring to the PS3 EyeToy or even the PS3 KB&MS or even...

That's odd that the preview is entirely gone now. I'm not sure how much I'd read into it, though, maybe IGN just jumped the gun, publishing it early, or something. The new screens are still up though.

Yeah that is pretty interesting, I didn't read too much into it the first time as well. But you may be on to something aldo. But only time will tell. :p

Well perhaps there's not too much to read into a missing interview, but the author definitely leaves it wide open about the PS3 "feature we can't talk about yet."

The next sentence was a consolatory line about the X360 version still being a great game even though lacking the PS3 features. Not sure if he was referring strictly to the tilt control or that and the "feature we can't talk about yet."

Found a link to the missing interview at the bottom of another IGN The Darkness story: The Darkness Returns.

Look just below the screenshots and you'll see the following:

EDIT: I shot an email off to IGN about this link to the missing story just for the heck of it. I'll either get an answer or this link will mysteriously disappear. Heck I might disappear as well.

Yea, they look like eject buttons, which is why I said the drives look sort of hot-swappable...

Yeah, I figured that much, but what do they actually DO? GP often = General Purpose in these situations, but general purpose WHAT? :p Some programmable IO port on the back of the unit used for god knows what?

Status for what tho, I wonder.

Anyway, thanks for the pic and infos.
