FIFA World Cup 2010

I don't think the netherlands won so much as brazil just lost it in the second half. I especially hated how they got knocked down to 10 guys even though the Dutch played dirtier. Would it really hurt so much if they had video referees?

I wonder if Brazil can push for it seeing as how they're hosting the next world cup?

After the penalty miss by Gyan the situation was such that whichever team loses will have their biggest star of the torunament being named into hall of shame. It was Gyan for Ghana & had Ghana won in penalties it'd have been Suarez.

Football's a Cruel game !

Well the Brazillian player gave the chance in the first place...ie. had he not made that dirty tackle in the first place Robben wouldn't have went with the little theatrics.

And Brazillians played dirty as well, it should be hardly surprising for Netherlands though considering they are a European side who play more physically than teams from other continents....and even more so when you remember the Battle of Nuremberg from last world cup.

If Gyan practices his technique and first touch he can become quite good. His physique is impressive
Agreed..his first touch is quite poor.
Btw I was rather impressed by Ghana's techniques...they are surprisingly very tricky & twitchy, even more so when you consider that they are an African side who are know for their pace & power more than anything else.

Oh he deserved the red card yeah, I'm just disappointed with the broken refereeing in the sport.

Agreed, but not because of the red card. Brazil lost the game prior to that when they scored an own goal to equalize the match.

If you notice up until that time Brazil was dominating the match. After the own goal, Brazil seemed to fall apart as if they didn't know what to do. And the Dutch on the other side were suddenly inspired.

Then once the Dutch went ahead, Brazil was in the unfamiliar position of playing from behind with a defense oriented team. I think had this been a traditional Brazilian team, they could have recovered from both all of that still.

But with Dunga's defense first strategy it just made it near impossible. Speaks of the quality of Brazil's players that they were able to come close once desperation set in with them down a player.

Wish someone would gag or punch Maradona in the face already...

He's now gone on to complain about goals allowed or denied in the Span vs. Portugal match and the England vs. Germany match.

Still not one word about the obvious offsides goal allowed his own team versus Mexico.

Are the reporters also just patsies that they aren't pushing him on that when he starts going off on his petulant tirades?

Paris Hilton arrested on drugs charge

Celebrity socialite Paris Hilton has been arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession following a World Cup match, South African police has revealed.

It is reported that Hilton was detained following Netherlands' 2-1 victory over Brazil in Friday's quarter-final tie at Port Elizabeth's Nelson Mandela Bay stadium.

A police spokeswoman, Brig. Marinda Mills, would not confirm Hilton's name but did admit that a high-profile individual would be appearing in court on drugs-related charges.

"This person is appearing in court right now," Mills told AP. "We cannot reveal information about her until she has appeared in court. I am here with the individual in court, we're waiting for the court to start."

AP reports that Hilton's publicist Dawn Miller was awaiting further details of the incident before commenting.

A police offer, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told the news agency that Hilton had been caught with marijuana. It is reported she was escorted from the stadium for allegedly smoking the drug.

"She was found in possession of some amount of dagga [marijuana]," the officer said. "We don't know how much. It's a high profile person, only the top cops are dealing with it."

Hilton posted on her Twitter account following the game: "Had so much fun at the game today. What a match! I love South Africa!"

Whahahahaha, she just jetted in and watched her first game just to get busted.

Man, gotta love celebs.

Awesome game last night and it was Ghana's game to lose with that last penalty, which subsequently they did and then went and lost the penalties kicks too.

Both goals, one from each side, were awesome goals although I think Ghana deserved to win right at the end if it wasn't for the deliberate handball that had the Uruguayan player, Suarez, red carded.

The machines are coming !! :runaway:
Its gonna be 1974 all over again.....with different final results :devilish:

P.S.[Even the English fared a LOT better than Argentina  ]

Not mine.

That was an onside goal, two incorrect offside calls by referee in succession (one for Paraguay & one for Spain) ain't looking very good.

Paraguay have impressive team movement, but I don't know if they can keep that up for another 45+ minutes.

haha I win $165 for the germany match, nice way to wake up. Damn I knew I should of gone with klose for golden boot, he was paying $30 or even $50. IIRC I picked him last worldcup + he came through with the money. pity maradona's gone though :(
