Ffvii Remake: Rm Egm

FFVII or Chrono Trigger remake, I'm more interested in the later, and after sid meier's pirates remake, I'm convinced that you can remake a game keeping the spirit of the original intact.

As for the rumor, let's just wait and see.

I'm thinking that a Xenogears remake will come sometime in the next 5 years or so. What is the Xenosaga saga at, Episode 2? If there are two more episodes in the next generation the on PS4 or Xbox 3 or whatever comes out at the time then a remake to Xenogears should happen. Episode 5...Xenogears.

Thats if Square willing to remake it. I thought that the Xenogears team left to make Xenosaga because Square didn't want to continue on with it? hmmm.

A FFVII remake could be a great way to show off the new hardware (just like the tech demo did). FF VII's graphics were AMAZING for the time. It brought the series to life in a way that had never been done before. A remake could do the same thing for this generation. On the other hand, I hope Square can resist the urge to change too much about a possible remake. Things I really hope Square avoids with a FFVII remake:

1. No card-collecting game mechanics/minigame
2. No whiny and annoying voice actor like they got for Tidus. A whiny voice actor would be especially horrible with Cloud's personality type.
3. Chocobo racing is fun. . . chocobo racing while getting attacked by birds and blitz balls is NOT
4. No lightning-dodging "minigame"
5. No collecting skanky outfits for Aeris, Tifa, and Yuffie
6. No love song by a pop singer
7. No bringing Aeris back to life
8. No realtime, FF XI-style combat

On the other hand, there are a few things (IMO of course) that Square could do to make FF VII even better:

1. Come up with a much better translation. Most of the dialogue (especially with random NPCs) in FFVII is just horrible.
2. Put Vincent and Yuffie in the ending for the love of God.
3. Create fully-orchestrated versions of the FFVII songs. The songs in FF VII were amazing, but the sampling rate was terrible.
4. Give me the option to force Yuffie to clean the Highwind's bathrooms until she agrees to put my freaking materia back the way it was before she STOLE IT.
EDIT: 5. I forgot to add, please make the characters more unique in battle. In VII basically your characters were all interchangable except for their limit breaks.

Anyway, I am neither for nor against a remake as a matter of principle. It all depends on how Square decides to do it. If Square truly pays attention to the things we all loved about FF VII then a remake would be an awesome tribute to the original. If they try to make FF VII into a brand new game, they would make a lot of people very angry, and it probably wouldn't be very good anyway, judging by Square's more recent games.

I think they are making a FFVII-2, like they made FFX-2.
A different game that's using same characters and the same world, maybe based more on the Advent Children movie than the PSOne game.
What info is there about AC story? Is it set before, during or after FFVII, or has it little in common except characters?

A direct remake of FFVII would be a bit too soon, as the game is still a bit too fresh in my memory. I'd most likely buy it in any case, but a new story would be good.

A Xenogears remake would be the best idea, IMO. :)

Not the time yet, IMHO, some of the concepts covered there, while probably accidental, are not something that should be spread too much.

I dunnoh, ff-x-2 left a bad taste in my mouth. I'd rather, if they're planning on doing ff-x-2 style content, they just add it as a ton of side-quests for a remake and dev. some of the char.s a bit more through them. Maybe even a few post-original-ending story events, areas, etc.

PS IIRC, the guys behind the story of xenogears/xenosaga 1, were badly fckd during the making of xenosaga 2, are probably no longer working on the series, and it seems the series took off in an entirely different direction.

OK, I'm curious. Which concepts are you referring to exactly?
