Fake or not? (Matrox)

No they don't.

Plants are green because they absorb the blue and red ends of the visible spectrum.

UV light kills plants (in high enough doses). Which is why the hole i the ozone layer was such a big deal when discovered.

Umm... Actually you can get tanned/sunburned through glass. If you've ever seen a tanning bed you'll notice that there is glass separating the bulbs from the body. Or, you could just go driving for a long time on a sunny day and you'll get a driver's tan.

Anyway, I guess as soon as blue laser diodes of reasonable power get cheap/durable something like this would be possible ... or alternatively with UV-VCSEL's and phosphors.

Hi MfA;

It was already in the works in germany and is called "Laser-TV" The company Schneider worked on this technology for years, but is out of business now. So someone else will have to pick up where they left the field.

The first prototypes where shown at an german exhibition IMHO 5 years ago. There biggest hurdle where the lasers. Even the latest prototyp used really big, noisy and expensive lasers.
