Fable 2

You do get given titles in fable 2 for meeting certain requirements. I got given the title 'Dumpling' for making a large percentage of the women in a town love me
You dont automatically get called it though you have to select it at the town crier. You are bassically unlocking titles for free in the town criers list instead of paying for them which is the other option.

Gold is a little too easy to come by from what ive played so far, once you buy your first few propertys. I own a pub and 10 or so stalls and have an income of around 1000 gold every 5 minutes. thing is it carries on earning you money even when your console is switched off so coming back to the game after a days work ive clocked up about 200,000 for doing nothing! i have the option of setting my system clock forward a few months i guess but i dont want to cheat just yet :devilish:

Do you have something you can do with all that money?

Great game so far.

I got it yesterday afternoon and so far i've put in some decent hours. The first thing I did when I grew up was buy property. I would make money just to buy more things. I'm getting 1300 gold every 5 minutes because of this. I had work today so I left my console on so I could collect. With the money made I will buy more things. (hopefully the smithy shop and the general good store)

The more the property costs the more money you make. For example I have a stand that cost me 1500 and it sells wine. It only nets me 10g every 5 minutes. I have a house though that cost 7grand and it nets me 50g every 5 minutes. You can aslo lower the prices at stores and more people like you. I've noticed if i lower the stores by 10% or so they have more money to spend on rent and the ecnomy stays higher and thus I make more money.

So far i'm really loving it. I hope they put the dog dlc out soon though. I want a boxer

Didn't ShadowRunner just say you don't have to leave your console on for that, it counts on even if it's turned off, and the next time you log in you get a pile of money?

Thats what it says , however it may be a bug (didn't connect to live to patch) but when I woke up this morning I did not have any cash even though I was making about 1k every 5 minutes at that point .

The game says you're supposed to continue collecting even when you're not playing - not sure why you're not getting your money, eastmen.

I spent a good few hours on it last night. I picked up Dead Space (plus free DVD movie) with this yesterday, and I think it's a testament to how much I enjoyed Fable that I barely touched Dead Space, or the movie, because I was locked to Fable all night. My initial plan was to finish Dead Space quickly so I can get maximum trade value since I'll be unlikely to play it again, but Fable would be one of my "keepers"... but it's so hard to stop when there's so much happening in the game that's just around the corner.

On starting the game, the first thing that impressed me was the charm. It's a bit clichéd to simply call it "British humour", but it's not too far off what I'm thinking. In the same vein as Overlord or Giants: Citizen Kabuto, the game really makes you grin with some of the random goings-on. In one instance, I entered a citizen's house at night, and impressed a family with two kids by flexing and showing a trophy from the first boss I killed. But when I started seducing the wife, the husband called the cops because I wouldn't leave the house when he began yelling at me. Funny!

Aesthetically it's obviously another version of Fable. My girlfriend watched me play it and asked me if it was at all related to the comic series, which says a bit about the style of the game, and the kind of tasks you're doing while running around. She also liked some of the choices that came up from the "tutorial" part of the game. We actually had a discussion about the very first quest you get - where the woman who gives you the quest says something like "five gold pieces may fill your stomach, but it won't get you any closer to your dream" - which is a discussion we have regularly about buying stuff and going out to dinner vs saving and putting into our new mortgage! I'm hoping the choices here actually offer something genuine, rather than just the good guy, or bad choices which are generally unrewarding. I'll likely be a good guy for life, though, since I can't really cope with being a baddie in games.

I haven't hit much of the meat of the game yet - I think I'll get a job to earn some property to keep making me money for the time being, since I want to have a regular income stream. It's not too hard to make money by working, but having properties definitely seems the way to go.

One other thing - I always play magic/mage characters in games. Switching spells in Fable is pretty awful, unless I'm missing something. I bought the slow spell, and the fireball spell. Switching requires me to stop dead, hold RT, push right on the Dpad (meaning taking me hand off the movement controls completely), and then releasing RT. But when I cast slow - with a view I can stop a baddie in his tracks, then flame him while running away - the effect stops if I change spells. Grrr. I should RTFM before complaining, but it doesn't seem to reward being pure mages just yet.

Robert - sorry for declining your co-op last night... I was just starting the tutorial, so I want to get a bit into the meat of the game before doing group activities. Let me know how it works, and whether you think it's a worthy addition.

Cheers

You're deleted! :p Oh it was more of a test. I was playing then I got kicked off live and when I tried to sign back in, it asked for a game update. Once I got to a point I could save I did the update and wanted to see if that was the patch for co-op or not.

I'm also having too much fun playing solo and I don't want the story ruined for me by jumping into co-op for someone's game. I'll do proper co-op when I beat the game. Glad you enjoy the game so far. For me, it's an absolute blast. The attention to detail in the presentation of the game is amazing and it's charm is best yet in a game.

Funny thing about dead space. I'm on level 6 and the plan was to beat it and trade it in fast before getting fable 2. Now I"m not sure when I'll have time to get back to it:(

On gamersyde there's a first ten minutes, although it's in French (was fine by me, easy enough to follow). It was hard to get a good impression of the game since it's so kiddy at first and almost old-school (very funny though that you get to do a number of symbolic activities that I think refer to other game-types) but it does seem very charming and things are looking very good for this game. I think this will be mine soon.

What is the story with the Dog DLC? Is it confirmed and imminent or something they've talked about 'in the future'?

I think it would be cool to get one that resembles our dog at home.

Picked it up today. I'm an adult doing my first quest and it seems pretty cool. The dog is great.

If you have the collector's edition, you'll probably not want to read this. If you don't, well, it won't matter to you ;)
The "otherworldly" bonus is Master Chief's armour and his swordy thing

I thought we all knew that was the bonus and the only real reason to buy the CE?

Robert, Scott: Any comments on Paranoia's inability to cast spells?

Oh and one thing I wanted to add. This is going to sound a little sickening to many of you, but the breadcrumb trail is a great concept. Dead Space has a similar concept (which you toggle on rather than being persistent) and these two games have really made me appreciate a concept which I thought was terrible on paper.

The reason for this is I now know which way not to go if I want to have fun and see everything. Playing Force Unleashed over the last few weeks, I was extremely frustrated at wanting to do the exploration thing, picking up the holocrons and whatnot. What ended up happening is the levels were effectively linear paths which intersections. One intersection went to the end of the level, where the other went to a goodie. As a gamer, I had to take a guess as to which was the wrong way to go. If I went the "right" way - ie. forward in the level - I'd frequently come across some invisible line that autosaved, and stopped me from turning around and getting the part I missed - sometimes by a door closing and locking behind me, or by an invisible wall.

Knowing that I'm going off the beaten trail is a great idea, and something I want future games to give me active feedback on. Flame me if you want, but I love it.

I don't mind the line. I just set it to low intensity.

I haven't gotten my magic high enough to see how much I like/dislike using different spells or attack levels.

wow really loving this game so far... beautiful and engaging, deep yet approachable.

i'm going for the hero, good guy this time :)

I have about 4 grand worth of rent i'm collecting but i only recieve 2 grand. Anyone else havin these problems ?

So another 3-4hours spent and I still haven't gotten the main quest started. I know because the name of the quest is "the journey begins."

Got a girl to marry me and while she was following me, I accidentally bought a house in the middle of the night. Turns out it was occupied with just a mother and a daughter at home. The daughter was as sad as can be and she walked out with nothing in hand, at which I pointed a finger and laughed while my dog pissed on her.

Getting that emo drama wrapped up, the wife was quite turned on already so a little sex was in order. Used the condom from before and went at it! Then it was off to my job as a Blacksmith in the morning. Worked hard and got 4/5 stars completed on Blacksmith working with nothing but my briefs on :( Saved up the money and bought three cheap merchant stands which now net me a cool $39 a day. Yeah, it sucks actually. A hard day's work and I get a buzz from the wife about being horny and needing action. Being 100% man, I stroll on home and go at it. Now the bitch is pregnant and I have a kid. If that's not bad enough, she's bitching that our furniture isn't as good as some other families.......

Back luck comes in 3 as they say. The second being, no more job. I show up and get told no job available! Then to finish it off right, I goto impress a merchant to get him to like me and sell me his shop for cheap. Instead I piss him off and I get arrested. Just for fun, I give community service a shot and it turns out me having to take out a few punk bandits.

No problem I say but who is gonna respect me with no clothes!? Found a nice tailor and spent way too much looking like a Captain Morgan's bottle picture. So I meet up with the bandits and think cake walk! Not at all. They almost had me knocked down. These suckers could block amazingly well! Some were sword and other range so I had to come up with a quick strategy. Eventually I won without being scarred up and came back.

So now I'm low on cash, looked like a douchbag, have a wife and kid I don't want, 3 piss poor businesses....maybe I'll start the main quest tomorrow?
