So now I'm low on cash, looked like a douchbag, have a wife and kid I don't want, 3 piss poor businesses....maybe I'll start the main quest tomorrow?
You just need a good PR person to spruce up your image and some saudi backing, it worked for W.

I have about 4 grand worth of rent i'm collecting but i only recieve 2 grand. Anyone else havin these problems ?
One other thing - I always play magic/mage characters in games. Switching spells in Fable is pretty awful, unless I'm missing something. I bought the slow spell, and the fireball spell. Switching requires me to stop dead, hold RT, push right on the Dpad (meaning taking me hand off the movement controls completely), and then releasing RT. But when I cast slow - with a view I can stop a baddie in his tracks, then flame him while running away - the effect stops if I change spells. Grrr. I should RTFM before complaining, but it doesn't seem to reward being pure mages just yet.
High-income tax?
R1: Can you murder your wife and do a late term abortion?
I just got done reading the co-op thread at Lionhead and wow, people seem really ticked. Is the entire problem that people can't 'see' your character if they join your Co-op, or are there actually game play ramifications?
For instance, we were told originally to be careful of whose game we joined because that person could (for example) slaughter your wife and kids and ruin your game. Is that still true?

This would be a great post to quote out of contextSo another 3-4hours spent and I still haven't gotten the main quest started. I know because the name of the quest is "the journey begins."
Got a girl to marry me and while she was following me, I accidentally bought a house in the middle of the night. Turns out it was occupied with just a mother and a daughter at home. The daughter was as sad as can be and she walked out with nothing in hand, at which I pointed a finger and laughed while my dog pissed on her.
Getting that emo drama wrapped up, the wife was quite turned on already so a little sex was in order. Used the condom from before and went at it! Then it was off to my job as a Blacksmith in the morning. Worked hard and got 4/5 stars completed on Blacksmith working with nothing but my briefs on Saved up the money and bought three cheap merchant stands which now net me a cool $39 a day. Yeah, it sucks actually. A hard day's work and I get a buzz from the wife about being horny and needing action. Being 100% man, I stroll on home and go at it. Now the bitch is pregnant and I have a kid. If that's not bad enough, she's bitching that our furniture isn't as good as some other families.......
Back luck comes in 3 as they say. The second being, no more job. I show up and get told no job available! Then to finish it off right, I goto impress a merchant to get him to like me and sell me his shop for cheap. Instead I piss him off and I get arrested. Just for fun, I give community service a shot and it turns out me having to take out a few punk bandits.
No problem I say but who is gonna respect me with no clothes!? Found a nice tailor and spent way too much looking like a Captain Morgan's bottle picture. So I meet up with the bandits and think cake walk! Not at all. They almost had me knocked down. These suckers could block amazingly well! Some were sword and other range so I had to come up with a quick strategy. Eventually I won without being scarred up and came back.

Thanks for the tips. I put in a couple of hours last night, but I didn't really manage to get too far into combat sequences. I bought two cheap properties giving me 136g every five mins, which should hopefully give me a platform to buy more property down the track. The Master Chief armour gives me a pretty good stat boost to start with so I can not stress about gear just yet too.Ya switchign skills is very cumbersome in battle, but on the bright side the upper level spells are AWESOME. I just got level 4 Shock, it does something ridiculous like 1400 area damage and the hit range is huge, so you charge that up, let it go, and can easily kill 10+ enemies in one shot. So you will definately be rewarded!
Basically it's just a matter of arranging the different spell levels wisely, I like to keep a quick spell like fireball on level 1, this gives you an nice long range projectile attack that you can rapid-fire extremely quickly, and fireball has a nice knockdown effect that is handy when being rushed.
Then on level 2 I have my slow time spell, so anytime I want to slow time I just have to do a slight charge, then I have level 3 and 4 both set to shock, and these are my real powerhouse attacks.
So depending on how you arrange it, it can work really well. I'm thinkign of adding a Raise Undead or Chaos spell to my level 3 which would balance out my attack a little.
With all that said, you're not gonna want to play this game as a pure mage. It really rewards using all skills, you get higher experience bonuses by using combinations, and unlocking "Skill" abilities will actually increase you moveset, giving you a roll (which is a must), additional combo's, lock-on targeting etc...Increasing your lifebar and defense require Strength, and a big lifebar is a necessity for any self respecitng mage...so really it's important to balance your attack if you want to have a strong character. For me it's usually a matter of Shocking a bunch of baddies, then either blowing their heads off, or hack them to bits while their stunned.
Oh and I didn't like the fact that the CE content was all on disc I have it, but imagine those poor suckers that missed out on their copy, and not being able to access the fun stuff. Make it free in three months or something so everyone gets to have the "full" experience, please, MS!
...don't like the screen tearing and load times, but no biggy.
..
didn't notice screen tear (I will now, no doubt! , if it's there) and load times are brief enough to not be a distraction, much less no doubt upon release of the install feature
Hope you don't mind me asking stupid questions. With spells, I managed to buy level 2 fireball, and I can see that holding the button to charge it increases the power. Does this mean tapping B only fires level 1 fireball by default?
If you have one at level 2, and one at level 4, is it just a matter of hold B until level 2 is selected, then hold B until level 4 is selected?
If anyone is interested in sales age stuff....
I track a ton of game related stuff using gamercard extrapolations (primarily for XBLA games), but dive into boxed titles once in awhile to validate VGC or NPD data. It's pretty accurate stuff if you know what your looking at, and can make apt comparisons.
At any rate, Fable 2 is doing insane to the nth degree, and is tearing up most openings/models I've observed of gamercard usage.
What that means is that there are only 2 games that have ever shot up mygamercard.net or 360voice.com so quickly: Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV.
Outside of those 2 titles, no game has sold so quickly - Although COD4 has certainly built up over time to do strongly.
Having said all of that, Fable 2 should easily clear 1 million units in October for NPD data. I wouldn't be surprised if it was higher (1.2-1.5m).
Some interesting info I found on Neogaf. Seems Fable II is selling really well.
