Fable 2

That's a plus point to online consoles. Games can be worked on in the month between going to print and being released, allowing for extra bug-fixes etc. without a delay. I think it's an important aspect to Fable 2 for its overall appeal and would be quite the loss without.

Yeah, I wasn't too keen on the figurine or the cards. I pre-ordered the standard edition from Amazon.ca for $50CAD. I think I'll stick with it.

Any guesses on how many copies this will sell? Is it really going to be a big seller? It was the only RPG I bought for the Xbox, and probably will be the only RPG I'll buy for the 360.

The only sales figures for the original put sales at over 1.6 million, but I don't know if that's the top or not.

What are the expectations for this one? Any ideas?

I don't think it'll be massive. Probably 1.5 to 2 million is right. I'm totally pulling that number out of my ass, but I don't see this being a runaway hit Halo, Call of Duty, GTA and whatnot. Just another solid title for the library.

I'm estimating much more for Fable 2. Somehow on the lines of Assassin's, Mirror's and such.

3-4 mil++ (post launch rave). The 360's pricing, slightly modified target market and promotions should help it. And I reckon a lot of people would be looking forward to what F2 is.

I think it will do very well..it's one of only three first party games on 360 this holiday for one.

Another reason I think so is the GAF retail musings threads, they typically place Fable 2 preorders above pretty much any other game except Gears 2.

I also think it gets a favorable launch date, Oct 21 just before some of the other heavy hitters on 360.

I think a favorable launch date is underrated..if you can hit just before all the other big holiday games, I think it helps any high profile game immensely. I remember Bioshocks late August date as one example of hitting that window very well, and for a recent example I think Star Wars FU's Sep 16 date.

I saw it claimed that the original sold 2.4 million. It was the 3rd or 4th most successful game on the XBox1.

Looks like Day One Patch

Remember a couple of days ago (or was it a week) where on a blog it was mentioned that Fable II would be shipping 'without' Online Co-op? And remember we said we were busting our balls to get it ready in time for a 'Day One' release? Well - [Good] news folks! It looks like we've done it...for all of you who are connected to Xbox Live, when starting up your copy of Fable II (on 21st October in USA, 24th October in Europe and 18th December in Japan). So all of you getting upset and all, you wouldn't even have noticed... Sort of. Well done to the team.

Taken into account we don't fail certification!

New pictures are still disappointing to me most of the time.

The towns look very nice and the engine technology is impressive. The concept art was very good for everything, too, but somehow the artists have failed to properly translate it into the game. The character models look wrong, some of their details are far too small to be visible, textures aren't giving back the colors and style of the concepts. I also hate the fluorescent green of the vegetation.

A lot of other nextgen games have managed to get it right, mostly JRPGs. So it's clearly a matter of art style and execution. It somehow feels like the artists haven't had a proper grasp of nextgen technology and consoles...

I'll probably still get it, but I think that it's a disappointment in the visuals, such a shame.

I was listening to some some old podcasts, and I saw a bit of info that I had seen earlier but glossed over: that you can't die, but instead you will lie there and get beaten (and get disfigured) or get back up at a (xp or gold) cost. Does anyone know if this still is how the game works?
