Examples of ATI filtering failing?

balanced for me does not come up with high quality textures and mipmaps it comes up as quality . 4.5s beta (what came on the x800pros install disc) If it is diffrent for you sorry . But what drivers are you using ?

1. what you guys have with the pictures. it won't show you anything at all.

2. i made one movie so far but frankly it's not really a good representation from what i see on my screen and they are stuttery which doesn't help. I need some more time and eventually you get your movies. Maybe next week or so

I wanna put back my r9800 and do some more testing but it takes time. Anyway i see a difference here and there that's my personal opinion on the matter so far. I don't see why this is such a big deal for others. If you don't see a difference that's fine with me i'm just giving my opinion on the matter from my own experince that's all.

Before you said it was apparent as soon as you played a game . Now you say you see it here and there ? Which one is it ?

What is wrong with the movie that you can't send it to me ?

here and there means i can clearly see mipmap bands in a ut2004 map and not in others. I can see more moire/texture shimmering in MP2 in some places but not in others.

The problem with the movies so far is that i don't have them yet(well one but it turned out no so great so i try to get it better) and i also wanna try some more different games and play them alittle before i do anything else.

We are not in hurry aren't we
 
well if u want to be believed then yes . Uses fraps to take the video. It comes out very well. 15 seconds but that sholuld be enough to show the diffrence .

Well i don't care whether people believe me or not and i'm certaintly not here to prove my opinion right as this is not possible anyway as it is just a opinion on a highly subjective matter.

It is , i mean i got the card today played around with 2-3 games for testing and there are obvious differences. I just put my r9800 back in to check again and yes there are differences.

MP2 : There is way more texture shimmering/moire in some places on the x800 than on the r9800.

ut2004 : i can clearly see moving mipmap bands in DM_Anatalus with the x800 where i do not on the r9800 (using in game AF)

maybe it's the drivers , i'll try another one tomorrow. I'm using cat4.5 beta right now

Also have you tried updating to 4.5s and seeing if its still there ?

That is full-sized - can't get closer without glare from the sun washing everything out. What you're looking for is the two bands of moire effect - the lower one is pretty much centred around the arm of the statue. I can do a screenshot from the same spot with the sharpness cranked up to demonstrate better if needed. 4.5s are out because I'm on 98SE.

This thing IS going to be subjective Komb, so having people just tell us what they see/think is going to be critical in analysing this try/bry impact.

While I agree some visual aids would be nice, the fellows opinion shouldn't be discounted just because he don't have any up. Not everyone has an easy time getting/uploading them, and mipmap lines can be a bitch to show in screenshots. (Don't get me started with the problems with capturing ingame movies!)

Please, please, PLEASE let's try and not be confrontational about this and be more open minded and just examine the evidence as it's presented?

Dig, I was obviously joking man, I wasn't being serious :)
 
why can't someone just, for example... use a game with demo recording, and export 3 sequential frames with a card without this "new" method, then get someone to do it on an x800? (and a q3 based game or something where we know everything about the engine at this point would be good - far cry is too new and people don't understand it) so far the examples have been highly unconvincing...
