And, for the last year, using the same filtering, the RV3xx also have not had one documented problem with this. Given the fact that the filtering has been in use for a year, with no documented problems - and you have to believe that at least one of ATIs competitors has been actively searching for these kind of things - there's not much else to say on the subject.

I'm 100% sure now a disable option must get into the drivers ASAP. Anything else is not acceptable

Did you download rTool and enable trilinear on all stages? Halo has got a problem with that and the mipmapping lines were horrible for me on both me 9700 & 9600 until I enabled that, then it went away on both.tEd said:i got my x800pro today and was very eager to finally see brilinear in action and whether my eyes can see the difference. Log it as a bug at http://apps.ati.com/driverfeedback/ - it's not supposed to be detectable. If they can't fix the algorthm, it will help the campaign for a disable box in the control panel.

Not trying to discredit you in any way, but you are the first I have seen to make such an adamant claim.
Personally, I will wait to pass judgement til I see it or not with my own eyes....

Care to provide some pics? That would shut up certain people who claim there is no difference

Yeah, that's the suckbutt bit about this...it really is something that I think it's going to come down to a personal opinion on that you'll actually need to sit and play with the hardware to find out.tEd said:i can understand that i've waited with judgment too until i've seen it today. I have to say that i'm very sensitive to such things. Others may not notice the difference but i do
