Haig do you think there are advantages in using PS2 (pixel shader) over PS1.3 or PS1.4, I don't know much about graphics card so could you tell me if games were to make use of PS2 would there be alot of difference if the card only had PS1.3? (i think you know why i may be asking this question :))

and Haig's reply:

if they don't have PS 2.0 support, I find this pretty strange comment...

I know there are probably too many threads about the subject already but I thought this deserved its own subject since these videos show Parhelia in more detail.

Nappe1, whats haigs background ? Maybe he just got confused with PS and VS and all those numbers ? VS2.0 and PS2.0 are big changes, VS because of the loops and conditionals and increased constant registers, PS2.0 due to being floating point (10 bits RGBA won't do) and allowing the use of 16 textures IIRC. Note that with both PS and VS if you miss one thing your not going to be compliant, with VS you can hack (process some on the CPU, expand loops in the drivers, etc) but not on the PS side.

I was just about to post another quote but you were faster. Haig stated that of course PS 2.0 will be much better than PS 1.3, but that doesn't mean anything more.

oh well, I don't miss PS 2.0 support at least yet. I have now AIW Radeon (1 year and 5 months old. and I think there will be at least 2 months before I get my next card) and I calculated that if I use Parhelia as long as I did with AIW, it should be pretty normal investment. (about 200 Euros to GFX card per year.)

And if we look year and half forward from now, we are talking about December 2003 or January 2004. So in that time there will be a lot of action in GFX market.

Sigh... am I the only one who thinks this format sucks for providing information ? Why can't they do a PDF like everybody else :)

Anybody else have trouble with the FAA.zip, most of the buttons do not seem to work properly :(

Kristof: after official launch there will be pdf files. what pcpop has released is the marketing crap. ;) (you know every company has this department which is kept in the cage until the launch is near. The the cage is opened and these wild guys are released to write all kind of flash animations, screenshots & stuff.) ;)

and besides, pcpop's FAA flash demo is broken: some submenus don't work right.
so, Countdown to official launch: [00:41] *** nappe1 changes topic to 'Get Ready: 16hrs 18mins 12secs'
(generated by small mIRC script. :))

well , i'm happy i found a job so quickly , i guess i'll be able to afford 3 new monitors , and a P512

in the meantime , i have to come up with a mirror , gizmo ..

there's a software trick to .. stretching the image a bit and inverting it

only to get rid of the borders
between the monitors ..
