I did, the only thing is trying to get the marks off this box in front of me with a glass at the front that emits light...

How, when the the controller interface has yet to be finalized by Nintendo's own admission? It is still in the concept phase, various input designs ideas are still being considered as I understand it.
 
yes, I realize that. I am saying that IF (for any reason) the controller fails to appeal, you alwase got the Cube's.
MS had to redesign Xbox's original controller and make it smaller... and it is still poorly designed. I guess every controller looks bad next to the dual shock 2.
I wonder what will Sony do to the next one? hmm...
 
The PS2 pads really aren't that good. There hasn't been a great ergonomic paddle ever since the Japanese Saturn pad and that was the best of all time for fighting games.

MS redesigning their redesigned Dreamcast pad was a good idea. Controller type S is not the best, but it is much better than the ogrish gargantuan that was the first generation pad.

Well, you're little bit biased on this one ;) Seriously I think the GCN pad is the best ergonomic pad out there and its button lay-out is very intuitive except for the missing Z2-trigger (plus I'd have moved the switch of the z-trigger a little bit more to the middle of the controller). However, it totally sucks for fighting games...

As for Rev's controller I think the GCN will not act as a backup controller; that's just a hassle for developers who would have 2 controll schemes. It would create massive confusion without any worth...
One rumour talked about pressure sensitive parts of the controller: So maybe there's one large "button" which will detect pressure & the location where it is applied. E.g. programmers could use it as 4 analogue buttons or as digital buttons or as 1 large buttons, etc. That would give the programmers lots of freedom and they could come up with nice individual gaming schemes...
Gyroscopes could be used as well. However, if wireless controllers become standard next-gen (MS is supposed to use them as standard controller) this is more or less ruled out, since that'd draw too much energy...

while i tend to agree with this statement IRT, say, capcom (and other 2d) fighters the cube controller is the controller of choice for me with soul caliber 2. in fact, when i play sc2 on the ps2 or xbox my fighting style changes slightly because some moves are harder to do with the button placement on those controllers. it's hard to explain without a visual demonstration, but i have to rotate my hand a bit on the ps2 or xbox to hit certain buttons simultaniously, while most of those are easier with the raised kidney buttons on the cube, with the exclusion of kick+guard.
 
A good gamer can adjust toplay with any controller.
I can play SCII just as well in the arcade, ps2 controller or gamecube.
I playing SNk vs Capcom on the stock GC controller with no issues. Maybe its because i've put alot of time into it.
