Dragon Age III: Inquisition. Standard official discussion thread [XO,PS4,PS3,X360]

So you can upload the savegames from the PC, right? I was worried I had to remember every single thing I did in the previous two games :S

There is no upload feature :(. It pulls the results from your origin account and creates and export for you to use on any platform. I assume as soon as you boot up DA3 and put in your origin credentials it will grab the export.

As for remembering what options there is a long graphical story and you can change he options as you see fit. After the story you can fine tune it by going into the tapestry and selecting whatever you can remember. Mainly this would be companion stuff.

Eeerm.. okay there's no direct method to upload the savegame, but if my DA2 saves are already stored in my origin account, does it set the world for Inquisition accordingly?

Unfortunately no. It fills in something's. But you really need to fill in the rest. It will use interactive graphics to play you the entire storyline from da1 to da2 and.you make your choices there. I though they would default from your saves but they don't. You actually have to make them. And then fine tune afterwards (the little details).

Edit: it was quite long, like 20 minutes to complete.

So they seriously expect me to remember every single choice I made 3 years ago in a ~90 hours game and 5 years ago in another?
What is wrong with these people?

Worst thing is that I'll probably slack off and fill in those forms trivially and then during the game I'll actually remember the events and say "oh shit, now I remember. I made a different choice back then".

Lol give it a shot when you have a moment. The application actually helped me with remembering my choices. It had epic music to boot.

I played the Windows version last night and it crashed my computer at a cut scene (without blue screen, don't know how it did that). I managed to past it by lowering the visual option from "high" to "medium". After that, I changed it back to "high" and it proceeded without further problem.

The cut scene seems to be running at a much higher detail than normal game play scene (and the frame rate is noticeably lower). "High" setting for my GeForce 670 running @ 1920x1200 is very playable (somewhere between 30 fps and 60 fps).

What's the deal with user review scores in Metacritic?

Had a quick scan and while there are a few trolly-type reviews a lot of people just seem unhappy with some of the design decisions Bioware have made compared to previous games, especially the original. Then there are people who seemed to have bought it not realising it's RPG heavy unlike Elder Scrolls which you can play like a first person shooter. Well, almost ;)

I see that Dragon Age 2 follows the same trend, so can I safely assume these are just anti-EA trolls?

Well its metacritic, dont base yourself on it, many are just trolling there, many have certainly not even try the game and bash it because it is not the original. Everything i read on different forums and review is the game is far better of DA2... Maybe some will still not be happy with some design choice compared to DA1, but even some die hard fan that i know seems like the game, ( when i have a bit more time in front of me, Inquisition is number one in my list ).

@pcchen the cutsenes are locked at 30fps, this is why. there's a possibility to tweak it. Like it use Frostbyte most BF4 tweaking config are working ( well maybe not all with good result but it is possible. )

I'm only 2 hours in, but so far it's been a remarkably dull affair. At this early point I actually find it hard to believe how anyone who genuinely liked Dragon Age Origins for what it was (i.e. a carefully crafted little world filled with decisions at every corner and mostly meanigful content) would appreciate the mindless, junk item spamming, open-world collectathon of DA:I.

It's far too early to make a judgement call of course, but man, what a lousy start. Visually it's pretty good. Hair looks awful, though, and the faces-via-sliders brand of characters take a heavy toll on the quality of the facial animations.

I also had more glitches in 2 hours than in my 20+ hours with the oh-so-buggy AC: Unity.

Every review I've read notes that the first few hours are pretty bad but that it improves tremendously. I've not played it myself just noting a common theme to the reviews for many sites.

Are you using a nVidia graphics card? The game seems to have lots of problems with nVidia drivers. AMD users don't seem to share as many problems.

Nvidia graphics cards cause mindless fetch quests?;)

I'm on PS4. The glitches were not of the graphical variety. Had to restart the game 3 times because the controller stopped working during dialog trees.

For what it's worth: framerate is nice and smooth.

Thanks, I tried the 60fps trick and also turned the Origin overlay off, and now it seems to be running well.

I tried to make my character look Asian. He looks like a half Vulcan Klingon Tuvoc.

Oh yes, its good you remind it to me... for everyone on 64bits ( everyone i believe on windows today ) ... turn off the Origin overlay, it create nice diverse bugs.... ( for peoples experiencing too problem on BF4, same.....)

sorry for the "pc" parts on a console forums.

Loving it ! The combat is very fun ! Yeah start is lukewarm but the characters and dialogues got me interested.

Only problem is I accidentally pressed X thinking that would open the PS4 keyboard to type a name for my character, instead it confirmed the name for my Mage as Maxwell :-/ !

Oh boy, does the game get beautiful and engaging ! I am exploring the hell out of Hinterlands and it gets more beautiful as time passes. Hooked !
