Newest issues of Dr. Dobb's has an article on how the new multicore architectures will change the way software is created. I suppose at least some people in this forum should be interested.

I'm not sure if you have to be a subscriber to read the article, but give it a shot: http://www.ddj.com/articles/2005/0503/

Herb Sutter (the author).
Herb Sutter is a leading authority on software development in general and C++ and .NET in particular, and is the creator of dozens of innovations in the fields of distributed database systems architecture, distributed network organization, and cryptographic security for databases.

Herb is currently a software architect at Microsoft, chair of the ISO C++ standards committee, and the author of four widely acclaimed books and hundreds of technical papers and articles on software development topics. He regularly gives invited talks and keynotes at conferences around the world and is available for private training and mentoring for new and current corporate clients.

Herb Sutter is in the top 5 experts on C++, MS hired him after all the complaints about VC6 not being standard.

In 2 generations since he started, VC has gone from be the most unstandard compiler to the most conformant.
