Dont the long lines for Xbox360 prove Nintendo is wrong?

If one PC OEM uses Geforce 6200 and the other has a pair of GTX512s, does it mean that they are keeping up with each other sicne "Nvidia can keep up with Nvidia"?
This is not a rational statement. Being able to "keep up with" implies the capability to provide competitive hardware.

No. Nintendo cannot afford to lose 100-150 dollars per system like Sony and Microsoft do to begin with.
I seriously doubt you are in any position to critique what Nintendo can and can't do financially.

The only way Nintendo has been keeping up is through smart and efficient chip design, as well as making cutbacks to keep the price low, such as the lack of HD support in the Revolution, and being consistantly a generation behind when it comes to storage formats.
Actually, the old N64 storage format was an added cost to the consumer, and the new one didn't save us (or the developers I imagine) any money. You seem to look at Nintendo's past to say "this is the only way." At that point, I don't really need to read anymore do I.

I think Nintendo is trying to carve themselves a bigger market outside the current one. They don't feel the can compete much longer for the home console market as their market share continues to drop each gen. What better way than to try to bring along your hardcore faithful and develop a console that's focused primarly on targeted new customers.

Microsoft is currently filling in the vacuum for the real two party race of the traditional gamer market, and doing quite well with their latest effort based on how much everyone I know is enjoying their Xbox 360's.

Nintendo always seems to think of themselves in the position of telling people what they want instead of giving people what they want, this situation is no different.

As long as most people like what Nintendo is giving them, I don't see where the problem is. Most people seem like they're interested in Revolution because of the new controller.

Are they going to be intested if the GAF rumors of Revolution via EGM's Qaurtermann not being much more technically capable than GC at all are true?

My bet is a resounding "no". People are going to line up for the whizbang PS3 holiday 2006..because people like graphics. Horsepower. RSX. Gigaflops. I know I do.

I think the DS lulled Nintendo to sleep a bit in that respect. First, the handheld market has different rules, and second, I dont see the DS long term future as bright myself. But it has succeeded far mor than I expected until now.
