Does this look photorealistic to you?

I suppose it all depends how picky you want to be.

Pure water might not have a colour, but water in natural environments often does because of material in suspension (etc..). It's not uncommon for it to pick up the colours from trace metals in the soil/surroundings for example... (not 100% sure, but isn't this the case with copper (?) in Peat?)

Other than the bad skips im thinking it looks pretty much dead on.

Go to the coast, or a random river, and ask yourself whether the water is colourless. If this were a video of tap water in a glass then your argument may have merit. But it isn't, so it doesn't.

When making an "arguement" do you actually think it through first? You realise that youve just said that its not in a glass, right? But also, we dont know WHERE its supposed to be, whats supposed to be underneath the water, whats supposed to be in suspension in the water, whats reflecting on the water, what the ambient light is (is it night, day, sunny, overcast). So how you can say with any authority that its the wrong colour, and THEN come back and defend your position against my obvious joke (lumious black? please) is absolutely absurd.

And FYI, with all my years of fishing of the coast of Scotland while the light is beginning to fade, I would say the colour of that "water" is spot on, sometimes.

a random river

Seriously, have you ever been outside? There are two rivers within walking distance of my house. One goes though an estate, and is fairly mucky, grey/green/brown. The other flows over soil with a high iron content, so its a nice shade of orange. As water is effected by whats actually in it, then you can NOT say its the wrong colour.

My guess, not a video, the shape and movement of the waves is off, two uniform and cyclic, computer like, kinda like water just about to boil but in slow motion. Colour wise, who knows, my monitor make it look like it's an aquarium, colour due to fish droppings and fish food particles. :) But I would agree that lakes and oceans are rather dark and murky, not everything is as pretty as a waterfall or a fast flowing river.

Depends how seriously I take it! In this case I really don't care that much.

Ummm... yeah that was my point about the glass, maybe it by-passed you?

My original post was a statement of opinion (which is what the OP asked for), and wasn't intended to carry any authority at all. Quite why you chose to pick it up and attempt to make fun of it I have no idea. Is it raining outside in Scotland?

I'd say it looks pretty real. It is low rez video, but by examining it closer it looks like

someone took real video of water and then looped a part of it back onto the end.

Without seeing any interaction with the water it's really hard to tell exactly what it is.

So if this IS real animation then I'd say remove that small hitch in the loop and it looks

great. ;)
