Do Windows updates keep out malware?

Well, I'm pretty sure you would think I do extremely stupid things, like make users local admin, remove the server service, use a simple software distribution system to handle all changes and fixes, use Linux servers and domains, etc. But it works fine. Then again, I agree that you use the recommended way, which works fine as well.

So, that leaves only one question: do you think it is possible to do good network management in a different way than the Microsoft way?

I get every possible update MS releases and the thing is that it does help, I dont know of any performance hits because I dont experience any. I think the patches do work...problem is the number of patches are way too excessive! I mean I am all for MS patching up the OS and so on but good god...I think SP2 is the way the OS should have been from the start....except without the security center and the goddamn firewall.
