Do not play Video Games at night!

LOL ! [the research not jvd ,thats horrific :-/ ]

theres been a bbc1 programme about sleeping problems, and last week this bloke who plays computer games was on. his gf was talking about how he'd get up ( asleep) and be lying down trying to snipe the soldiers .. he'd been playing some game before going to bed..

FWIW , i'll share my sleeping method..... (uk) . watch the baseball on channel5!!! i finish playing say rise of nations , turn on the tv , watch some waffle about the teams, watch the first pitch......... then bingo wake at 4am with the tv on and it's the 7th inning stretch!!! fantastic cure for insomnia!

-dave-

actually thats not strictly accurate, the mets<>yankees on sunday night was a fantastic start ( i seem to recall 3 hr's in the first innings ?) and i wish i'd watched it all ;) ( maybe i should set the video!!)

I'm lucky to have no sleeping problems even though I mainly play games at night before going to sleep. Only thing that can keep me awake all night is if I drink even a single cup of coffee after 8 pm.

During work days I usually stay awake 'til 00:00 and wake up at 7 am.
Now that I am on summer holiday, I may stay up to 2 or 3 am, and not wake up until noon. I have no problem sleeping for 12 hours straight, but I feel more tired then during the day, than if I had slept for 4 or 5 hours.

Really, I think what effects more your sleep, is alcohol and drugs. I quit taking alcohol (and smoking) almost completely a few years ago, and my sleeping problems disappeared after that.

you take that back about alcohol. It has never done anything bad to u . What cause my sleeping problems came about when i was 18 and my gf of 3 years passed away from cancer. Since then i have horrible nightmares when i sleep and slowly but surely my body got used to having less and less sleep. My cousin has had bad sleeping problems since he was 5 adn was in a terrible car crash. So really drinking doesn't do anyhting. Well actually if i get a good bender i can sleep for 5 or 6 hours .

well, i was playing silent hill 3 last night in my room with lights off and it was very creepy... especially the bit where u knock on the toilets door and "something or someone" knocks back, then u walk away and the door opens up with a very sudden and loud bang... i KNEW it was gonna happen, cuz it's such a silent-hill-3-thing to do, still i jumped in my bed...

and also in other rooms, when u can hear steps and creepie sounds like that.... its very very creepy, especially since i use my DD-DTS surround sound system to play games.... realtime DTS would have been absolutely great for this game, if only for the added creepiness factor...

You mean SH2, not SH3 :)

My buddy freaked out, threw the controller down, and ran out of my room when that happened

SH1 was more creepier, esp when you see a child's spirit dissapearing into the wall...

yeah i guess at the time it was, however PERSONALLY if i were to play the game now, it would spoil the whole atmosphere for the simple fact that now i could count how many polygons are in PS1 games' models.... u know what i mean...

i mean, SH3 LOOKS and sounds credible enough to be creepy... a bunch of polygons PS1-style dont do it for me anymore....

Yeah, it came with a loud glass-shattering-sound through the window, that scene catched me so off-guard, I almost got a heart attack.

yep.... still, in the dark, Suppound Sound turned up, a big BANG is always scare, as much as u expect it... even more so with "loud steps" coming from upstairs in the first sections of the game, or loud creecky doors...
