In this case, saying that it's "much faster" is as hyperbolic as saying that it runs like crap given that Nate at AnandTech has reported exactly the same thing as the blokes at pcgameshardware.de which is that both TR and BFV where struggling to hit a constant 60fps @ 1080P on the 2080Ti (obviously on pre-release drivers and games). Discussion here: https://forum.beyond3d.com/threads/...-reviews-and-previews-2080ti-2080-2070.60871/

Some ideas on the way ray tracing will be used in the immediate and near future:

@pharma I like this Battlefield V RTX gameplay in this video even better than the trailer because it showes very fast and visible to everyone how fake screen space reflections are. It's not just trifles, either. And this is just the beginning.

The on/off comparison in the first video (Atomic Heart) alone is "brutal". Multiple reflections would have to be expensive, I think. RTX is the right direction to close the gap between movies and games instead of 8K etc.

In racing games Raytracing reflections can be presented very well too.

woah, that Atomic Heart is spectacular, specially after the 6 minutes mark. Asseto Corsa shows how beneficial raytracing is for racing games too.

that being said, my body wants another racing game, but one with motorbikes instead of cars.

The self reflections in BFV are really cool but I’m pretty sure those puddles are overly shiny.

Soo when is there going to be an executable demo we can run on our own hardware?

BFV open beta starts really soon, but I don't think ray tracing will even be included immediately at retail launch. Have a feeling it'll be part of an update.
