DirectX 8.1b is out

Ok, I just installed it

Here are the version number changes between 8.1 and 8.1b usind dxdiag

DX 8.1 - DirectX Version: DirectX 8.1 (4.08.01.0881)
DX 8.1b - DirectX Version: DirectX 8.1 (4.08.01.0901)

DX 8.1 - d3d8.dll: 5.01.2600.0881 English Final Retail 10/30/2001
DX 8.1b - d3d8.dll: 5.01.2600.0901 English Final Retail 5/1/2002

Other then that some of the DX components are dated 5/1/2002 but are still the same version number.

That's about all I noticed that was different version number wise...

I imagine that this is going to fix some of the D3D related problems in the 'pre release' version of DX8.1 that came with Windows XP.

Something about problems with the D3D screensavers and GTA3 comes to mind.

Colourless, thankee. Any other knowledge what the real differences (to 8a) are? I'm running W2K so XP improvements don't touch me.
