As far as I know it's exactly what it sounds like: a fast GPU-based MLAA implementation. Naturally it comes with all of the upsides and downsides associated with MLAA.
It seems like that MLAA solution will be more like the MLAA implementation on PCs, right? I don't care much for those current implementations. I hope it will be better than that.

So...what is it? Motion blur + MLAA messing with things? The bad texture filtering doesn't help.

I'm responding to the posters hypothesis that...etc

Thanks for the response. It should have been obvious to me if I'd taken a second to look at the HUD elements, but I think I was so swayed by the praise given for the 1080p mode in the article I just assumed there must have been a capture error on DF's part.

The reality appears to be that 1080p support is a box the developers felt the need to tick with absolutely no concern for image quality. I keep clicking and looking, everytime shocked by how poor it looks.

It is not like the AMD implementation, it is more like GOW3 implementation but running on the GPU instead of the CPU.

The reality is that the game looks clean and razor-sharp in motion. (where it counts)

This is getting funny. I admit I didn't play it but if I had to guess I would say that this is a sub hd game with alarming need for AF.Don't want to compare it with anything but I have to since we argued about it for weeks and IMO Motorstorm in those shots has worse IQ than "sub hd omg the jaggies and blurriness" of Crysis 2 on PS3.By some posts before I would have though that this is by far the game with best IQ in gaming...

So we come to this "psychological barrier" of sub hd game that we were talking in that Crysis 2 thread and it makes me giggle that now after what I was blantantly defending Crysis 2 I see posts like "Have you seen it on your TV".I guess thats all that matter, right?

*Maybe I am wrong, and maybe the game does look cleaner(I suppose it should) and Grandmaster somehow did something wrong with those shots so don't eat me alive :D

You are wrong  dont know whats wrong with those pics but i have the game running in front of me and it is night and day. Say what you will about other aspects of the game but IQ is not one of its issues. In fact i would put it up there as one of the best examples ive seen. It has issues with sub-pixels as expected but outside of that is crystal clear. Id say 3D mode is comparable to what we see in that screenshot.

The difference with crysis 2 wasnt that people werent analysing just two images, they were actually playing the game, and had played previous betas also. There is a difference between good/bad IQ and wether it bothers someone or not, which seemed to be the argument there, this game actually does have undeniably good IQ. Did you play C2 on PS3? Do you have a PS3? if so there is a motorstorm demo you can try for yourself

Please people, if you are determined not to actually try the game atleast try and source some images from various places before jumping the gun.

Even crappy "720p" shots like this with compression artifacts all over show better IQ than that 1080p shots:

In a DF technical discussion thread? ;)

Besides, i guess its all relative. Im guessing they made a decent profit and so somewhat happy with the sales. Not that i even know what it actually sold worldwide...

Hey now! I never explicitly said here, but with all the hyperbole being thrown around there's not much technical discussion going on atm.

Anyway so few games...well racing games I mean employing dynamic framebuffers. Any thoughts?
