Diablo III - It's official

A lot of time while leveling in D2 is actually spent playing inventory tetris and running around the rogue camp and other settlements between various vendors. If you can bring back more loot (or if the game drops less crap) then more time can be spent actually playing and enjoying the game itself.

That would mean you clear the act faster, of course...

The 1st act in beta, which is roughly 1/3rd of what will likely be the release first act is an hour. Yes.

So the single player campaign in diablo 3 is just over an hour, why are you all raving about this game ???

Its just a part of 1st act, its not full act 1. From what we know skeleton king fight is about in 1/3 of act 1.
Game is long, not doubt about that.

What D3 needs though, to really bring longevity (if you can talk about a hack-and-slash game in terms of longevity...), is a final difficulty level where all the mobs in all the acts are the same level/difficulty, so that you can play and kill anywhere without getting penalized in your XP gain or mob drops.

D2 had tons of good stuff that only dropped in the worldstone keep, and/or from Baal himself, meaning you had to run the same route over and over and over and over, and it got terribly effing boring after a not really that long while.

That is exactly what Inferno is doing, its a lvl 60 only content and all npcs are lvl 61, from act 1 to act 4.

Don't know if this was mentioned (or if the offer is still available), but if you play WoW, and had an account before something like Oct 20th, you can agree to keep a WoW subscription for the next 12 months and in return get:

a) A free mount
b) Free access to MoP beta
c) A free copy of Diablo III when it is released.

Ahahaha, evidently there might not be a Hell Cow Level for Diablo III.

Evidently instead there may end up being a Heavenly Pony Level. In other words taking all the criticism of being rainbow brite pony game, they'll make a Pony level.

Regards,
SB

They've had ponies and rainbows snuck into the slides of all of their public presentations these past couple years, so that wouldn't surprise me... I just hope they don't wear out the joke, it's getting a little long in the tooth now. :p

Check your Battle.net accounts. I received an invite to the beta without an email. Log in and check "My Account." There should be a list of Blizzard games and at the top is "Diablo 3 beta." I wonder how long it's been there.

I got in last night, got a barbarian to just shy of 9th level. Lots of fun, beautiful environments, though I wish the textures were higher res. Also hard to really comment on the combat mechanics without the colored orbs (forget what they're named) that modify your skills in different ways, and I don't think those drop until Act 2 and the beta is limited to Act 1.

Many people got invites today.
My friend too, so i'm downloading it now :p

I gotta say the monk feels very underwhelming to play after beating Act 1 with a barbarian. Enemies I could drop with a single hit from the barbarian take a good 4-5 from the monk. I'll try the wizard tonight and see how that fares.

I beat it with a Barb, also. Dual wielding is the way to go. Two handed weapons are kinda cumbersome. I rolled a wizard yesterday, too, and they're cool. Frost Nova's cooldown is ridiculous, though. I wanna spam that crap.

For about a level my barbarian was running around with a 2-handed sword and visually it was quite fun watching him hurl dead enemies back with a single swipe of the blade.

I tried getting in last night but initially I had attempted to play during download (blizzards servers were quite slow, understandable I guess). Their launcher maxed a core as does their agent.exe. So with the launcher open I was at 100% cpu during download. Tried to go into the game itself and since it was still downloading (and thus agent was killing the cpu) it played at about 1 frame every 10 seconds.

Waited till fully downloaded then servers were down.....
