Diablo III - It's official

AFAIK they junked charms completely. A bit disheartening perhaps, maybe they'll make a comeback down the road.

Oh, and KKRT, multiple accounts always was a ducking pain in the ass. I did that, way back, and never again I say. Mule characters are bad enough as it is to keep track of.

I watched about an hour of the videos Dresden linked last night and my one complaint is that there's still a lot of repetition in the floor tiles despite the lack of random maps now. I realize there's an obvious limitation to the art assets that can be created for a game, but I sort of assumed blizz would be a large enough company possessing the resources to have enough assets available that each cathedral level wouldn't look and play like a carbon copy of the previous map.

Yes i know, inventory management in D2 is my biggest turnoff every time i play ;\ [later its act lair of maggot, arcane sanctuary and 80% of act 3 ;p]

That's i want big shared stash in D3 and 350 just dont cut it, its less than 200 items, way to low for months/years of gameplay.

Well, Jay Wilson or whatsisface (D3 project lead guy) promised last Blizzcon it would be pretty much impossible to run out of storage space, so I'm not going to panic just yet.

People running around screaming like headless chickens over this months before the game is even close to launch is just internet ADD-kiddie syndrome. Relax, alright? They've not even started handing out public beta invites yet for chrissakes. :p

I'm so fucking amped for D3 after all this rush of information, combined with their new community site functions. And the game is probably still 6 months away from release :(

I believed it too, till i read about shared stash on official diablo 3 site.

Rumors are swirling of a Nov release, but they're just rumors and it all depends on how well the public/invite beta goes would be my guess. It's possible to see release this year, but with Oct just two weeks ago I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'm predicting late nov/early dec release. Blizz surely does NOT want to miss this christmas. As previously reported, the final act was playable by last year's Blizzcon (albeit in rudimentary form), and they started crunch on D3 this past spring, so they've been finishing this game up for quite a while already.

This baby wanna come out.

Since I never really got into it the first time after being distracted, and I have a Diablo itch now, I decided to start Torchlight again and go through the game. I see the sequel is nearing completion and will be $20 again. Very nice considering it will be much bigger and have co-op.

Expect a release date announced at Blizzcon. In fact, I'd be willing to bet money that's when we'll get a tangible date. As for making a 2011 deadline, I'm not sure about that. While I hope that's the case, it's anyone's guess.

No invite either.

I read that the invites are being doled out in phases, which has been a past time for Blizzard games. I got an SC2 beta invite a few days before the beta ended. So while you may not have received one yet, there's still more invites being sent out. I have crappy luck, in that sense. While some would consider it lucky to even get an invite at all, if I eventually do get invited to a beta, it's nearing the completion of the testing period. Seeing as the official open beta is beginning soon, I may as well lay out on the table the fact that I was a participant in the Battlefield 3 alpha, but received my invite the weekend before the servers shut down. I've exhausted researching the NDA concerning the BF3 alpha, so hopefully I'm not breaching it. Whatever information used to be available, isn't anymore, so I assume it's open for discussion, at this point.

Anyway, if anyone is lucky enough to get a D3 beta invite, there is no NDA. You're free to discuss/post whatever you like from your experience. Good luck, everyone!

I received invites for the Lich King expansion on both of my WoW accounts, but never got even one for Cataclysm. I think I also got a Starcraft (Edit: 2, not original SC) beta invite, but that game isn't one of my favorites so I'm not sure. If I did get one I didn't act on it...

No D3 invite as of yet here either. Oh well, maybe for the best. I really should be unspoiled for the moment when the retail game launches.

I was in early closed beta for Diablo II, but nothing else for Blizzard. Maybe I'll get lucky again for DIII?

What are the odds of a 2011 release? Is that even practical thinking, anymore? I'm worried Blizzard is going to announce the release date and it's going to be another 6-8 months.

Well, Batman PC has been slipped into an unspecified Nov release, and there's skyrim on 11/11, so I could live with a early 2012 Diablo 3 launch date.

Bah. I know. I got Skyrim on hold and BF3 will be out in a month. Worst case scenario, I'd have to wait, but I'd be occupied.

Yeah, Diablo would occlude everything else. Even my apparently never-ending LOTRO addiction would lapse in the face of a new Diablo.

How's that going, nowadays? It's F2P, isn't it? I might step back in. That's a pretty good seller, in my opinion. When they say "free" do they MEAN free? Or is it free until you find something you want that requires a premium upgrade.
