Destiny [PS3,X360,PS4,XO]

For people who need Rare Fusion Riffle (for exotic bounty) go to buy then, you have two hours! On PS4 and French session, but it's probably the same for others?

I definitely want Icebreaker. A sniper with ammo regen will allow me to solo the much harder strikes (which is basically not possible now).
Yeah, Icebreaker has been a godsend for soloing missions. Definitely pick it up if it goes on sale again.

Anyway, I'm just about to Vanguard Rank 3 and was thinking about buying a Legendary. Is this a good idea, or should I save my Marks? I already have two legendary primaries (Lord High Fixer and POX). I think I read somewhere that after each Vanguard Rank above 3 you are gifted a Legendary anyway, so if true buying might be redundant. I do need better weapons right now though. I am in the middle of an exotic bounty which will eventually get me the Pocket Infinity fusion rifle.
You get a reward for every level above 3, but it's not guaranteed to be a weapon. As Nisaaru said, there's no reason to save your marks up... the vanguard quartermaster doesn't change its inventory.

If buying a Vanguard Legendary is a good idea, which one would you guys recommend? I was thinking either Shadow Price or Light/Beware. Or maybe one of the Scout Rifles?
That totally depends on your play-style/weapon preference and what you need. If you have a good primary already, Light/Beware looks to be a solid fusion rifle.

The vendor version of Shadow Price (yes there are multiple variations of it, along with other legendary weapons) isn't the greatest. It lacks the field scout perk and a 25 clip is a bit on the low side. It's still a solid AR if you like ARs.

If you like Hand cannons, The Devil You Know is great. A.1F19X is also a solid scout rifle. It has a slower rate of fire, but it has high impact. I have two versions of A.1F19X (one as a drop and one purchased from the vendor) so I forget which one the vendor sells. But one of mine has a field scout perk which extends the magazine to 27 and makes enemies explode with precision kills, dealing damage to nearby enemies.

Hand cannons and ARs are good close-midrange, but I find scout rifles are very useful for the harder missions where I like to sit back and pick off enemies from further back.

Here is a bunch of weapon data (supposedly) by a guy on reddit.

The comments does explain my incidence of damage not going up on a lower level mob when I upgraded attack

Also, according to his testing, Suros doesn't appear that great :( (post nerf). I always use Atheons Epilogue in the raid cause I always figured void damage for praetorian shields, plus oracle killer perk, = great. Now I'm beginning to second guess because I bet AE is not even as good as Suros, it might not even be close.

Still digesting his post.

Nah, AE is still great in the raid because you can break down their shields faster than most other weapons.

However, the use of AE IS limited. I use AE in the following areas within the raid:

1. Front door opening, great for breaking Praetorian shields and then killing them with Pocket Infinity.
2. Conflux defending (right side of map, VoC is better on the left side due to engagement distances)
3. When being teleported by Atheon (Oracle killing)

Suros Regime was never a strong PVE contender.
Before the patch It had roughly the same ammo count as Vision of Confluence, and also hits for a bit less. Vision of Confluence also had great stability, so accuracy wasn't a plus for Suros Regime.
Many of my friends that wielded it in raids complained about the low ammo reserve, a problem I didn't have with Vision of Confluence.

Not to mention VoC is actually a legendary and not an Exotic.

Suros is perhaps a bit overrated, but I think it's still a very good all around weapon. VoC is just better and is arguably the best primary in the game, especially after the buff and small AR nerf.

I agree the ammo reserve would be an issue, but my armor holds more reserve ammo for ARs and hand cannons. Otherwise I think it's more like 280-something.

VoC and scout rifles in general are very efficient and seem to never run out of ammo. They have become very popular since the buff.

VoC holds like 324 rounds total, so that's why suros holders were complaining.

Suros Regime was 23 strange coins today, yet everyone online says it only costs 17 strange coins. Why the discrepancy? Did Bungie have a price hike?

Will the Icebreaker also cost 23 strange? I only have 14 strange at the moment, so I've got some work to do I guess.

Ok, thanks.

How do you guys typically schedule raids, given there's no matchmaking? Do you use internet forums to recruit people, or just gather interested parties from your Friends lists?

I'm thinking I might want to attempt a raid some weekend, once I've geared up a little better and also learned more about how to go about raiding.

Going into Destiny, I only played SP games, so my friends list was just a small group of personal friends (don't know many gamers) and a few people here on B3D. A bunch of people added me from playing Destiny, but I don't have a regular group to play the raid, so I just get random invites from people on my friends list the odd time. Even worse, two of the guys that I would play with often don't really play anymore. I wish I had a regular group to do the raid more often. :(

Ran the Raid 2x this morning on normal (once with each of my chars), basically got nothing of interest except "Universal Remote" exotic which I was told was a primary Shotgun that isn't that good (and I never run shotgun).

Nothing much left to do this week than dabble in hard mode I guess, and maybe even leveling another alt. I'll probably do the weekly for the coins.

Honestly the daily missions/PE chores are becoming a bit irrelevant to me, while I could always use more, shards and energy are not my limiter, you get enough from raids. So with not worrying about them as much there's a whole chunk less to do in the game.

I think I've made the tactical decision to shrink 12 shards into my legendary armor to hit 29. Why not as I basically idle waiting for raid gear to fall...

Anybody here uses Voidfang? It has a Special Ammo perk but somehow I miss the effect with the Fusion weapons I use.(77Wizard, The Calming)

PVP is worth dabbling in. I ran into a PVP beast. As if all he ever played was PVP from 1->27. He showed me the potential of the PVP aspect of the game and seeing it is motivating.

Ooh, I got my choice of not one but two easy (no PVP) exotic bounties just now.

I went with the one that yields super good advice (machine gun). A quick google yielded people saying Pocket Infinity (the other choice) was useless post-nerf.

This bounty is said to be super easy and take an hour at most...

Not that jazzed anymore as I have exotics and legendaries coming out my ears at this point, but still happy. I do tend to run machine gun rather than rocket launcher.

Bullshit, Pocket infinity is still the best Fusion rifle available, providing the highest burst damage of all Fusions. It rules above Plan C in PVE, and is quite frankly the best weapon against enemies where you can't precision shot (like *cough* Minotaur and *cough* praetoreons )

People were crying about removing 3=>8 magazine perk, when in reality nobody in their right minds use the 8 magazine perk (once you try it), due to the terrible stability. Anything after the 3rd shot is unreliable, not to mention the damage decreases gradually as you run into the later rounds.

Third round still has ~80% of damage and the last rounds were probably down into the 40~50%, so you really didn't want to use the 8 magazine perk anyway.

The only time where I felt the need to use the 8 magazine perk is when we were trying to kill Gorgons, where I could simply walk right up to him and not care about missing.

You're much better off running with the stability perk to ensure that you actually hit with the 2nd and 3rd shots.

Just to put it in perspective, with all stability perks enabled, you can barely control all the shots to hit Atheon when standing in the middle platform. Without the stability perk, you're probably going to miss about half of your third salvo.

I didn't use the 8 clip before the nerf (also use the stability perk), so nothing has changed for me post nerf.

My problem with PI is the range isn't great. And you have to pre-charge more to get past the slow charge rate.
Overall, I think I prefer my 77 Wizard and Final Rest II legendaries because I find they're more useful. I use them far more than PI on my main and alt. characters (who both have PI).
That said, PI is amazing close range.

As for Some Good Advice, personally I think it's crap. I did that bounty twice for the energy because it's easy to do. Not worth an exotic slot at all IMO.

Pocket infinity pretty much one shot Minotaurs without their shields even in Hard raid. It's also the only fusion rifle that can clear 3~4 goblins in one go, so tactically the amazing burst is a lot better than the other fusions.

The charge time isn't an issue once you realize that it fires about 2.5 times the firepower of the other fusion rifles.

range shouldn't be an issue because you'd have accuracy issues before you have damage falloff issues.

Damnit now I wish I'd taken PI

Gear that's useful in the raid is super important. And if SGA is junk it'll be just another in my growing list of exotics collecting dust.
