Destiny [PS3,X360,PS4,XO]

Leaks say that Taken aren't a new enemy but fallen and cabal with green 'hive-eyes' as they have been 'taken', as in, mind controlled !!! So much for new content in the comet expansion. Looks like it will be just recycled stuff as always.

@RenegadeRocks Bungie is the most GREEN company in the world :0
btw i think the whole destiny 1 wont have anything new. All DLC will be rehashed contents or locked content.

new contents will be on Destiny 2. Heck, i think The Colonial Ship wont be on Destiny 1 at all although bungie said in E3 that it is an "Importnt story element". At least its the impression i got from reading the leaked roadmap

^holy shit! No new planet even in the comet ! we are hoping for no reason. This makes me think one should just abandon the shit till Destiny 2 hits.
New subclasses had me so excited but this means we will be levelling them again in the same areas :( , killing the same enemies ! I mean, 2 years with the Same content is a bit too much !!!!! 2 years, they plan to not give us new locations for 2 years and expect the enthusiasm to remain high ?!?!!

2 years ! I had such high hopes from comet :-/ ! I thought we would get new planets, new races to go with the new sub classes , but alas !

New races, I dont get that. I mean how many enemy archetypes can you really have? Destiny already has all the big ones. The same ones that are in every game.

I guess sure I'm not AGAINST a new race, I just dont know how you can be creative about it. At some point it gets to be reaching.

Humanoid Things that walk on legs (or hover and fly maybe), there is not that many ways to do them. Just like guns.

Comet/Taken King has a "new area". Fallen ship, right? Sounds underwhelming yes, but maybe it's really big? Effectively analogous to a new planet?

New planet would have been nice, yeah. Especially Mercury looks cool. Not convinced we wont get something like that anyway though, a lot could have changed since old leaks.

Honestly looking at the leak pic, it seems like Hive Ship is effectively a new planet. Because 4 strikes and 12 story missions is about 2 planets worth of content (planets started with like 6 story missions and 1-2 strikes), plus it says "new patrol". Which means we are going to have a new area to patrol, which pretty much cant be anything but a new area/planet,

New subclass though sounds great. I just hope that the Hunter void subclass is the best to even things out a bit, because I still feel like hunter is underpowered in PVE. Hunter could use some serious DPS abilities. I want to wreck some shit with some void blasty things. And ooh yes, some not shitty grenades would be nice!

The Warlock's self res is just a hell of a trump card.

@Rangers

-Race
they have ghastly race that looks like Xur and have triangular space ship in the concept art. They can use those

-Planet
They already have Mercury in the game, complete with the "surface-level loading zone" and a bunch of location thats locked. House of Wolves simply unlock The Lighthouse (it was already there since the E3 video). Or Bungie edit it a bit (like the terminus that got broken up into parts in HoW).

They also have Saturnus or something according to IGN article BEFORE the game released.

Frankly, i think Bungie already have contents for Destiny 2 but their own vision is toooooo big for their own good. So instead of releasing all for Destiny 1 (and Destiny is already exceeding the schedule), they decided to cut them up into Destiny 1, 1,5, then 2.

Destiny 1-1,5 use a bunch of stuff that already available but locked = more development time for Destiny 1,6 - 2.
Destiny 1,6-1,9 mix new content with stuff that already available = more development time for destiny 2.

-------------

here a few more "unused stuff".

- In venus, you can found 2 or 3 "Vex Mailbox". This is explained in Grimoire as something something but not interactable in-game.
- in various planets, you can see unused areas far away from accessible ground. and as we know, Destiny dont need the area to be accessible physically to add them as activity (the game works fine teleporting player to physically far away locations).

Hunters may not have that one single really useful perk that Warlocks and Titans have for PVE, but Hunters have a lot of great uses. They are the best for dismantling mines (agility + invisibility), getting revives (invisibility), destroying oracles (golden gun) and running the sword in crota. Running all 3 classes, I rarely feel that my hunter is lacking is usefulness.

As for grenades, the arc bolt grenade is one of my favorites. Trip mine grenades are good in crucible too.

Yeah, it's funny to me how I used to think Bladedancer was useless. Now I use it almost exclusively in endgame.

I will say invis is nice. Although it does kinda feel like I'm relegated to medic sometimes, that's not a bad thing I guess.

However another hunter guy put it perfect when he popped his super to go invisible the other day in POE "Literally the only thing our super is good for".

Arc blade (the actual attack) is basically completely useless in PVE and that's sad. 90% of the time I run around with my super full saving it for an emergency (such as everybody else died, or need to go get that mine right now!) when I need the longest possible invis. It's kind of sad to have a full yellow super bar and no desire to use it most of the time. Golden Gun is not all that much better. Even more because they nerfed the hand cannon range which does effect GG negatively.

I feel like in PVE Hunters are ok because Destiny is weapon based, class isn't SUPER important as we all shoot the same guns, but we definitely feel a little weak or like the least desired class on LFG.

I also almost feel like they built both Crota and POE just for hunter invis, yet we STILL aren't markedly the superior class in that content. What happens when the content is built around the Warlock or Titan? Like they had to go out of their way just to make hunters relevant.

As I said, Warlock res is the trump card, even when the content favors another class it will always make them relevant. Hunter doesn't have anything like that.

I saw a long video of a guy solo I think it was 34 POE the other day. The thing is of course he was a Warlock, and over the course of the vid he died and self resed at least 4 times. That's like FOUR extra lives. That's just basically incalculable as an advantage. He gets 5X opportunities in this case versus everybody else's one...5 lives if you will. I doubt he could have done it with any other class.

And the thing is now that they've given Warlock self res, Bungie cant really take it away, they'll be OP forever. I guess they could nerf the cooldown somehow, add in a 2nd cooldown just for self res or something, but it'd probably inspire too much rage. So they wont do anything.

So yeah, I just hope hunters get some serious, warlock like DPS capabilities with their void subclass, and I hope it's better than the other two new subclasses to even out things overall a little bit.

Hunter void super is said to be a "gravity bow" which still implies some sort of golden gun type thing, but hopefully a lot better.

Managed to complete 2 ciphers. Picked the Queenbreaker's bow and Lord of Wolves shotgun. Both are very unique and fun to use. The bow is basically a sniper/fusion hybrid that holds 55 total rounds (80-some with armor perk). It's the same sniper that those vandals use. Because it's a fusion rifle, there is some travel time in the shots, unlike snipers.
Lord of wolves holds 244 rounds with ammo perk and has the range of a feltwinter's lie shotgun. It basically feels like a Red Death/Shotgun hybrid. I can see this being a good crucible weapon because it holds so many rounds and special ammo doesn't spawn as frequently. Only downside is it takes up an exotic slot, and a good shotgun like felwinter's lie/matador/party crasher etc., is at least as effective in this range.

The reviews I've seen all say something like "it's ok, nothing great" about all the HoW exotics (three currently available) which always dampens my enthusiasm for new exotics. I'm going for the Queenbreakers bow though, not all that jazzed about it.

I guess the ammo is really high, that could make it pretty useful.

Back to the last topic, arc bolt grenades? Are they good in PVE? I'm using the flux one on my bladedancers.

I have a feeling you're talking about PVP which has no relevance to me.

Always a problem with Destiny, somebody will say "oh yeah, such and such thing is really great!" when they really mean "only in PVP cus that's mostly what I play".

I also feel like that's why Bungie wont buff arc blade to be more useful as an attack in PVE, because they're worried about PVP balance. Just screws us PVE hunters over.

Ok so a new planet isn't necessary at all to add tons of new non rehashed content to destiny. New patrol area or 2 is a must in my opinion. Take earth for example. We have only seen Russia and the eastern European flood zone between PvP and PvE. There are so many potentially awesome places for new patrol areas on earth alone. New York, Chicago, Los Angeles just to name a few. So if we don't get a brand new planet it isn't bad news. If you play on Xbox September when the comet comes out you have a lot of new content to look forward to. Aside from the expansion itself Xbox gamers will finally get their hands on the PS exclusive strikes, MP maps and weapons.

The good things about the Queenbreakers bow is that it holds a lot of rounds and can basically be used as a mid - mid/long range sniper. It also has bonus accuracy firing from the hip, so it's pretty versatile being able to cover a wide range. The downsides are that it has comparable impact of a medium impact sniper rather than fusion rifle; and because it's a fusion rifle, there is some travel time and there is a charge time.
With that said, it's a fun weapon to use, but it's not good enough to replace a good sniper or fusion rifle IMO.

Lord of wolves is my favorite new exotic so far. Based on the little time I've spent with it, it seems to have comparable impact to low impact shotguns (maybe even a little less) with comparable range of the felwinter. It basically has shot package too because it fires a burst like a pulse rifle.
The only real negative of this weapon is that the impact is on the low side when comparing it to other shotguns. But the fire rate, ammo, reload speed and range more than make up for it.

Flux grenade is also good since it does more damage albeit to a single target. I like the arc bolt grenade because it does more splash damage. It's a personal preference thing, but I use arc bolt in both PVE and PVP.

I'll check out Arc Bolt I guess. I like flux because at least they have a little usefulness sticking them to Captains arc shields, and maybe even removing the shield in one stick. They're nothing like the mini-nukes Warlock's toss around though.

One little thing I really like about HoW is how now we can just put on the 42 light armor, and upgrade it through actual playing in endgame. Before, you had to basically only level your armor through bounties/daily or MAYBE nightfall weekly, since un upgraded armor would drop you two light levels.

Now you just put it on, go about your business, and the perks unlock through XP naturally as you play. Very nice and how an RPG is meant to be imo.

Got 3 more flawless runs in Trials this week (actually 5 or 6 for helping people, but you only get rewards once per week per character). Got 2 Messenger pulse rifles (solar and void) and my second Jewel of Osiris handcannon with void (which is what I really wanted). Just need the rocket launcher and I'll have all of the ToO weapons.

Had a really fun match where we went down 0-3 to a team and they started teabagging us. Big mistake as we came back and won the next 5 to take the match. Of course we HAD to teabag them at the end. :)

It was one of my most memorable matches in ToO, so I had to save the clip (will upload it to youtube later).

All using your warlock to self revive a lot :p

I dunno, for supposedly being hard seems everybody and their brother I meet on\ Destiny has that emblem signifying flawless trials...

I was kinda short on time but doesn't look like I will beat Skolas at all this week. I tried him for like 3-4 hours one morning with kinda crappy teammates who didn't know how to burn well (and I am reasonably crappy too) we couldn't beat him. Solar burn means his scorch cannon is very deadly when trying to burn him. I'm not too arsed, I'm kind of waiting until they nerf him, which I hope is this week right? He needs it...

Still mad in my 3 Skolas clears last week didn't get a single elemental primary. Would LOVE a void scout.

The thing is this game is so bugged, 2 of my 3 chars have the bugged elder cipher. 2/3 also only got the ship for first skolas clear, not the shader or emblem. So it's sort of like maybe I was SUPPOSED to get a elemental primary and just didn't.

Self-reviving isn't as good as you may think... people are smart enough to camp the body with shotguns. You need to be smart with your self-revive. You can only self-revive as many times as you get your super, and in Trials where there aren't a whole lot of kills per match, you don't build your super THAT fast. In a single match, I'll MAYBE use my self-revive twice. In most cases, I'll save it for when I actually need it, and in some matches I won't even use it once. Plus there IS a downside to using fireborn/sunsinger... there's no super overpowered offensive attack to get kills like the other classes/subclasses.

And it's not like I ONLY play on my Warlock. You only get rewards once per week per character, so I've also gotten flawless on my other characters (I have one of each class). Last week was the only week where I didn't get flawless on all 3 characters (not a big fan of the Widows Court map... every match was a snipe-fest with people with final round snipers).

Playing trials every week, I've noticed there are certain times where competition is generally a lot easier. The first few hours of when trials starts is a good time to play, and also on the last day (Monday). Friday night and Saturday are probably the toughest. Plus I've seen a lot of people carrying others through trials. So basically the difficulty depends on when you play and who you play with. I still say that it's generally more difficult to get flawless than it is to beat Skolas. But I'll let you be the judge of that. ;)

The PS share button captures the last 15 minutes so I included the match prior to the one where we were down 0-3. As you can see in the second match, on match point, Purifier Robes is a great exotic to have for Sunsinger Warlocks in Trials, as it disorients nearby enemies when you activate fireborn. And following that, you'll see some heavy teabagging by me. :D
For the record, I only teabag if I get teabagged first. Those guys were asking for it. :)

I use the Hawkmoon handcannon, and in that particular video I was using the Felwinters Lie shotgun from Iron Banner. If you're on Xbox, Thorn is a good all-around handcannon, and The Last Word is a good close-mid range handcannon. Other good shotguns are Matador 64, Party Crasher (both are random drops in crucible) and Judgement IV. Found Verdict is also a good one, and even the queen's shotgun is pretty good with the right perks (I recommend shot package and/or range finder with rifled barrel/smallbore). Range is the most important stat on a shotgun.

PoE is getting kind of old for me already. Skolas isn't very difficult for me anymore (beat him first try just now) and apparently they're lowering the difficulty because people are spending more time attempting it than Bungie would like. I still would have preferred a raid.

I've already got a bunch of extra etheric light and almost all of the trials/poe/new exotic weapons so I'm almost running out of things to play for already. That said, I'll keep playing Destiny as long as my buddies do. And ToO will definitely keep me coming back and is probably my favorite addition to this expansion.
