Destiny [PS3,X360,PS4,XO]

Hmm....update weighs 4.3gb (real size) , shows 6gb but download starts from 1.7gb completed.
Its bigger than Dark Below, hope it means more content.........ah , just realised, but it doesn't mean that. its bigger cos it introduces the new area on reef. New assets.

I was in a YT conversation with some guy arguing whether new vendor gear will be 33. Everybody claims Bungie said it will not. I point out Bungie never specifically said that at all. I was thinking the new vendor gear will still be 33, just more difficult on some way to acquire (like instead of just a commendation, you now need to complete a quest and a commendation, or something).

But a guy pointed out they basically said they're gonna let us upgrade our old gear. HMMM I never thought of that, what if you can just upgrade Crota and/or VoG gear to 33 somehow? And then would that mean only the new Prison of Elders gear can hit 34? HMMMMMMM. Dont know.

And if the gear can be upgraded even pre dark below why wouldn't the vendors sell 33 armor if they sell 365 damage weapons? Bungie said they wouldn't devalue raid gear again. They never said they wouldn't sell armor one level below again. Making all weapons and armor upgradable to the current standard is the best way to accomplish this.

@RenegadeRocks

The update include new overhaul for

The terminus
Rasputin vault (looks the same but have totally different load zones and new light sources)
Mars locked area near tower (now the bouncy barrier is really close, can't enter at all).

It also supposedly added something in Moon anchor of lights and / or archers line.

Ugh I need a fireteam to explore then all

I found a great app just now, just go to play store if you're on Android and get "Tower Ghost" for Destiny. It's apparently a fork of Destiny Item Manager (DIM). I think it has iOS, Chrome, and Firefox versions too.

I bought a little 199 Samsung 8" tablet a few weeks ago, partly to aid playing Destiny. But really it hasn't helped that much. It was still much easier to go in the other room and transfer items via my PC than the somewhat cumbersome Destiny app for Android. Which was only really worth bothering with if I say needed just one gun.

However this app really hits the spot, it makes transferring (multiple) items and weapons (mainly) between characters and the vault on a tablet a breeze, well so far I just only started using it. But I already love it. It is supposedly for phones too but I haven't tried that. Like literally all your guns are laid out in front of you and you just chose where to put it, vault or any character, without the intermediate step of moving it to the vault (just like DIM in that respect)

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.richardpinedo.towerghostfordestiny

Those look like phone screens, on my tablet it's actually far better as it appears all characters and the vault are onscreen at once. This is like almost what I've been dreaming of in terms of a tablet app. With the caveat I have not used it a lot yet.

Edit: Here's a screen shot from my tablet

you just touch any gun and choose whether to store or equip it on any character or put it in vault if it's not already. Like say I touch vex mythoclast this comes up.

So you just pick the icon of the character you wish to store or equip it on (of course you only have equip option on the character it's already stored on). Amazingly good design. Pretty similar to DIM for Chrome but on a tablet app.

I'm a little scared of these types of apps after that lost weapon scare recently, but it turned out fine. And they all claim the risk with any app is no more or less than it is with Destiny's official app. I read a comment on Destiny that said just dont transfer a weapon (using any app) during a "transition" screen, which he said was like the momentary black screen when you go from orbit to tower or when you die. Have no idea if that's nonsense, but it's probably a good idea to make sure you are firmly somewhere before transferring.

Ok, so I played after the update and I notice that , maybe, there seem to be new patrol missions. I mean, I went to Venus and the missions I recieved all seemed new. Its the same old structure, but the wordings seemed new. Either that or I am just playing after a loooong time.

Also, enemies were spawning very late. Like I would run past the whole area on foot and then find enemies spawning if I looked back. never happened like that before, I would always find enemies waiting for me whenever I reached somewhere.

In other news, I realised that I had not upgraded my Hawkmoon after rebuying the upgraded 331 version from Xur ! Heresy ! My most favourite weapon is under-levelled ! So, I set upon bounties and guess what.......just fell in love with the Hawkmoon again ! What a fantastic gun it is !

ALso, i relaised I need the Helmet and Boots from Crota if I want to hit 32. Is there no chance of hitting 32 without doing Crota? That shit doesn't drop in Crucible ?

yups, patch 1.1.2 changed some technical things behind the scene. But i did not notice that late enemy spawn, but i have not done patrol..

what i noticed was view distance is reduced again. maybe this is related to late-spawn? because some stuff in destiny view distance is affected by network (ammo boxes, clutter/objects that not "one" with the map).

maybe bungie tweak their netcode again to prepare for the 3-man prison of elders.

I learned that on Xbox One, if you view somebody else's gamercard from the in game roster screen it will give you an hours played figure for Destiny and compare it to their's. For me I dont remember exactly but it was over 1100 hours. The other people in the party (5) were like 300-600 hours, except one guy was also over 1100 hours and also had slightly more playtime than me.

I figure that number is highly inflated, possibly as much as double. I imagine it includes every last second you are on the game. And a lot of that time is idle time for me, I often have the game running, perhaps in orbit. just so it is ready, but am not actively playing it.

Still, that's a lot of time LOL.

There are two other sources of Destiny playtime that I know of, Destinystatus.com and Bungie. Bungie has per character, and I think only includes time in activities, so is by far the lowest figure. It doesn't include even tower time or active orbit time. Last I checked Bungie a while back, I was only at 300+ hours by their figuring (which again should be low).

Updated play times for me from web sources:

Bungie.net, Character 1 10d 9h (249 hours), character 2 6d 10h (154 hours), character 3 1d 11h (35 hours). Total=438 hours. And I'm sure that's significantly low...Also I deleted another character a long time ago who was at about 24 hours by Bungie count at time of deletion.

Destinystatus.com has me at 413 hours character 1, 251 hours character 2, 58 hours character 3. That's ~720 hours, and says "including tower and orbit". Throw in another ~40 hours for the deleted character.

So yeah, 3 varying figures. My guess is Destiny status is closest to correct but still a little high. I remember timing how long it took me to go from level 0-20 with a new character, and the hand timed (but just rough estimate) playtime was in the middle between Bungie and DestinyStatus number. But IIRC if anything closer to the Destinystatus one.

My guess (fact in first two cases) is it's like:

Bungie: Only time in an active activity (mission, raid, etc)
Destiny Status: Above+time in orbit and tower, which too be fair will include some idle time, but also plenty of active playtime not in bungie's figure.
Figure on Xbox One Gamercard comparison: Every single second the game is running. Even when the controller or game has timed out due to inactivity.

My best guess at my true active playtime then would be 600-700 hours, possibly closer to 600. But certainly over 500 as the too conservative Bungie figure is near 500. Not too shabby.

Anybody can match my playtime at those sites?

Thanx @Orangelupa ! Got the Chestpiece and it looks super sexy and has given me a reason to go back to Voidwalker again. Have been a Sunsinger too long, holding back my super just for revives feels boring now. Wanna be back in action.

There seems like not much reason for Fusion Rifle after the Shotgun buff. Anybody noticed? I guess maybe on lightswitch strikes?

On VoG I've so far found buffed shotgun has rendered my void fusion rifle kind of irrelevant for Praetorians...

Still having the worst luck getting Fatebringer/Timepiece/Epilogue from VoG. Run after after run, nothing. I've run it I think 9 times at least since I started VoG again all on hard, not one of those weapons. Meanwhile almost every loot point somebody else gets one of those. And my last raid came away with just 3 energy too. Oh well at least it was a quick run for once.

Haha Rangers, how does it feel? I remember back in the day you telling those of us who complained about not getting crap from multiple raids were wrong or lying or some shit like that.

Anyway, what weapon is Xur selling? I'm trying to decide if it's worth the time to DL the big ass patch just to see what he's got.

Hah I never said lying, I was just...very skeptical. Especially of some of the tales I would hear from people in raids, like some guy claimed to get 100 shards and no energy or something. Just not possible.. And yeah a lot of people were definitely lying :p

VoG loot system seems much more unforgiving than Crota. Somehow I kind of prefer it. Even if it's harder.

I have gotten all the other VOG guns since i started running it again, so it's not like I'm not getting guns, just not the ones I want. And I get armor, which of course is totally useless to me. And yeah I'm kind of glad I'm supposedly getting a taste of the bad side of RNG. Really I dont believe there's a bad side, play enough, roll the dice enough, you WILL get everything. It's not really possible not too. Except I could see somebody not getting a single gun, like Gjallahorn, even after 1000 hours. I fully believe that's possible, hell I have only gotten it twice. But not getting raid gear or something if you try enough, not really possible. It's worth noting I already have Fatebringer, Timepiece, and everything else. I am just after my 2nd and 3rd of them. And I am sure I dismantled a few more back in the day.

A lot of people over at the Bungie forums are pissed there is no raid with HoW.
To be honest I am glad we are getting the prison of elders (horde mode). I am sure you have heard me complain that I don't do Raids because I don't know 5 other people to team with. Plus Bungie promises variety with the prison of elders which is something Patrols and Raids and even strikes lack. Since the PoE is only 3 players I really hope they provide match making as an option. How do you guys feel about the HoW having no raid?

Shredenvain just do Destinylfg.com...as I keep advising you :D

Once you try it it's ridiculously easy. It's really just a bare step removed from matchmaking. You dont have to make an account. You just go, choose your activity from the dropdown (like Nightfall, hard VOG, etc) put your gamertag, level, and somebody should invite you within a minute or two. Then remove your listing so you dont keep getting invites. In slow times you may have to refresh your listing to the top a couple times. Alternately, I just scan the listings for people looking for more (LFM) and message them (it has an icon to click to be taken straight to Xbox messaging on PC). Either way works.

Anyways about Prison of Elders, I see both sides. A new activity is cool, in some ways better. Horde modes are typically lots of fun, this should be no exception. It should be extra fun since Destiny gameplay itself is very high on the fun factor.

OTOH I cant honestly say I dont feel a little disappointed about no raid.

I'm interested to see how fleshed out Prison of Elders is. I hope it doesn't look like something they just slapped together.

Some have suggested they should have done both, IE horde mode and a raid. I dont see how BOTH could be the endgame activity though. It really had to be one or the other imo. Maybe you could try making both of them endgame at the same time (IE, both drop full sets of 34 gear I guess) but it'd be weird/halfassed imo. And I think people would just flock to whichever activity was perceived as the slightly easier one.
