I wonder if like me, a fair amount of people made a specific point to buy this digitally when they're normally agnostic to digital. I did. I figured it would be a game I wanted to always have easy access to and would come back to a lot for a long time, even if I had another game's disc in the tray.

That was my reasoning too but I've bought everything digital since then as it helps my rewards at XBL. In the past I usually ordered the games from the UK but that adds postage+time. So I rationalized it that over time reaching the 10% bonus on every digital XBL purchase minimizes the cost differential.

I bought the game three months after release but even now, the game (with the DLC) still costs £85 on UK PSN store and £55 for the game without DLC. That is insane amount of money !!

So it was only natural that I bought a physical copy when I saw a sealed limited edition (including the DLC) going for £40 on amazon.

Yeah, I would do that if you haven't Renegade and keep after the other 2. Dont give up...

BTW people always write ROC like it's an abbreviation, apparently it's actually a eagle-like bird!

Can't blame them when you use the arabic name for a fictional giant bird next to something like Vanguard for a playlist.

Hit Iron Banner level 3 today and bought the chest piece from the Iron dude.

And what's the fastest way to get Ascendant shards ?
I think public events are one way but you only get one for each day and it's not a sure probability.

Daily Heroic Story seems to give Ascendant materials but only 2 or 3 at a time and there's only 50% chance that it's a shard because it could be energy too (I require 36 in total to level up just my gauntlet and leg armour fully).

You can get more from public events but there's only a guarantee you get something from your first. Daily30 gives you 2 but then the whole ascendent material stuff is a farce. You never get enough for all the weapons you might want to play with, only your really important ones.

It's really like nothing else ever seen, for many years I thought if a mainstream MMORPG like WoW could be developed on consoles, and if it could work around things like a lack of keyboard for communication on console, there'd be almost no limit to it's popularity. i think Destiny is finally that game.

I wonder if it was set in COD universe if it would have sold much better (but I would have liked it less). I think so. Military has a big edge over sci-fi in recent FPS sales.

Put COD branding and assets on these mechanics...sales would have been insane I think.

Vault of glass by far if you're high enough level. Otherwise, just those other ways.

I disagree you'll never get enough, I have like 120 for....forever.

If you want to really get serious, make a 2nd and/or 3rd char and get them to level 20 to support the first (EG all shards gained are global, do daily mission/PE on all 3 characters, use them to level just one character much faster). And you can trade all armor between characters, so level 20=whatever your highest level character is instantly, just trade him armor.

Yea my friends have been doing the three character thing to stack up the rewards. I'm not sure about that as I wanted to build a warlock for my next character since I have some of the high level and legendary gear for warlock.
Then again my friends can help me reach level 20 quick, and then I can stack up the rewards until I have enough. I'll probably do it after a week or two once I am done with my finals.

In my experience, the best way to get random strange coins is through the daily public events and also just decoding a shit load of rare engrams from the Vanguard playlists.

It is probably the second most useful weapon in the game. If you don't have it, you should really move heaven and earth to buy it this week. It went 4 months without being sold last time. I bought 2 more this week (meaning I now have 3 new ones and 2 old ones) just so I wouldn't have to swap it between characters.

Yep I just got mine and I played since launch, just didn't have the lvl or coins when it was on sale. It is by far one of the most important weapons. Makes soloing so much more easy.

It indeed does, except for missions where you are confined in a small area and have to kill aggressive enemies like Thralls that approach you or enemies that move a lot like Stealth Vandals you can pretty much solo most of the strikes and story missions at high level alone.


Edit: I think after 2 days worth of game time (no raids yet) I am officially starting to burn out on the game a little. I find it tedious to play through the same missions over and over again in the same way but with slight modifiers (Heroic, Nightfall and Roc are the only modifiers that even matter anymore). I'll start with raids next week and I have no doubt I will have some incredible fun with it ! But the story and strike missions, I am done with them. The PvP is fun but it's not Halo (won't equate it to COD as that game does what it does better than any game out there) and honestly speaking it is a bit unbalanced with the supers Arc Blade and Fist of Havoc (especially with Obsidian Mind and a team of friends can just decimate the other team if they build their gameplay around maximizing orb usage).

It also gets annoying when despite having 14 maps, I am playing the same map 4 times back to back and the 5th game happens to be on a map that I played before the repetition cycle started. I have reached level 3 in Iron Banner, half way through level 2 in Crucible...meaning I've played Crucible quite a bit. Despite this I've yet to play on Bastion or First light even once !! Last time I played First Light was in the Beta. I've only had ONE game in Asylum and Skyshock. Majority of the matches have been in Blind Watch, Firebase Delphi, Shores of time and Twilight Gap (in descending order of frequency). Like seriously Wtf? I can't be the only one who's been experiencing this weirdness in map rotation in this game right ?

yeah the map rotation in crucible is messed up. too many times with the same map in a row

btw for PvE, if you are bored, you can skip most of the encounters and checkpoints. Same reward, quicker play.

even the super long stuff like Omingul strike and Undead Mind have sections that can be skipped
