Destiny [PS3,X360,PS4,XO]

My XBL ID is the same as my B3D username.

I'm down for doing Nightfalls and strikes with anyone. I'm willing to raid as well, but although I've completed both raids a few times, I'm not exactly the most experienced at leading a raid. I'm more of a support player. Trouble is, when you get a team full of support players but no leaders, you aren't very successful.
Same here my Xbox live I'd is shredenvain

Level 15 now and I have some complains, first off why do all weapons (in the same type) look, sound and work exactly the same?

I get that in a game such as this where you constantly keep changing gears it would be ridiculous to have a different looking Gear for everything, but why not mix thing sup a bit with some variety, colour palate swap.
Diablo does this, Borderlands does it even better...by keeping the look and feel and feature of weapons fresh. In fact even Destiny does it for armour but weapons? just a stat change. I don't know if this changes but I doubt it does considering I'm level 15 now and nothing has changed. It's not like there's a whole lot of content in the game in the first place. Destiny is big, only in the sense that the areas in the game are quite big and there are 4 different areas but apart from that I don't see the "big" because rest of it is just missions with the exact same structure.

The game itself has the addictive thing where you keep coming back for just one more mission, one more upgrade...but that's the same thing for any loot based game. Also what is even the point of the Tower? Can't do shit there and you have to endure long loading screens just so you can go back and collect bounties, take new bounties and decrypt gear (seriously this is just a silly feature, I do not understand why they even have it) and get occasional rewards.

I've heard that most of the complaints are actually from post story content and also that Dark Below messes up the game even further and that it's short and the price is completely unjustified...wonder if Bungie will listen to players for the 2nd expansion.

Hmm, I never noticed weapons look the same, I dont think they do, snipers often look different dont they? Scout rifles might all have the same model...

Heh, I'm so oblivious I haven't even noticed whether they do or dont. But I do know the Crotas End Raid weapons does look different, it looks all Hive-ey (basically uglyfied). And I guess exotic weapons look different. I guess hand cannons naturally look similar but I think some have differences?

Anyways excite, Bungie made a update...and basically they are patching every cheese...http://www.bungie.net/7_Bungie-Weekly-Update---01082015/en/News/News?aid=12483

Crota’s End – Updates
  • The existing Pit treasure chest reward moved to killing Ir Yut, the Deathsinger. She has a chance to drop Exotic weapons and armor, class pieces, and Radiant materials.
  • The Pit treasure chest will now contain Radiant Materials.

Pit Encounter
  • Removed the physics impulse caused by exploding lanterns.

Bridge Encounter
  • Players will now be required to cross the bridge in order to complete the bridge encounter.
  • Players will now be required to wait for the bridge to be completed prior to crossing with the sword.

Deathsinger Encounter
  • Fixed a rare case where the Shriekers would not spawn, preventing players from reaching the Deathsinger.

Crota Encounter
  • Two Swordbearers will no longer spawn at the same time at the outset of the encounter.
  • Crota will now recover from his kneeling state after a player quits.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed players to remove the “Presence of Crota” using a Radiance Warlock’s Fireborn ability.
  • Fixed a bug that made the Oversoul appear destroyed to some players in a Fireteam when it was actually still active.

Vault of Glass – Updates
Exotic weapon drops in the Vault of Glass are now Level 32

I like the move to give Ir Yut rewards, makes great sense and one huge problem with CE is not enough radiant materials, and this sounds like an overall increase there. It also of course will motivate players to play the Deathsinger encounter. Great move on that one.

The weird one to me is the last one, VOG="32" weapons. Not sure what they mean, do they mean it will drop The Dark Below exotics and legendaries @331, or do they mean all the old standby's like Fatebringer will now drop 331 versions in VoG? I'm not sure I like the latter idea, not sure I basically want the same guns to be the best ones in the game forever, which is kind of what happens (it already happened with Ice Breaker and Gjallahorn once they get updated to 331).

Regardless if that happens, I'm going back for a 331 VoC ASAP lol. It would still probably be the best scout...27 mag with solar, and it's impact up there with Another NITC although below Badger CCL.

Teh Edits: It appears from reddit discussion it's assumed the old VOG classics will just be 331 now. Hmmm....

Patch date "as early as next Tuesday, January 13"

Ehh, I'm (and many others) 32 now anyway, Crotas end is not that hard as it is. Beat Crota legit a couple times this week. At 32 a good swordbearer can down Crota in two runs since they do much more damage to him.

First thralls part-not hard

Sunsinger part-beaten many times since no cheese, not hard

Crota-not hard with a 32 swordbearer (probably not hard at 31 for those with skill who have done it a few times)

Bridge part-I only played this legit back in the beginning of the raid, and it seemed kinda hard then just because of the blue gatekeeper knights being a little tricky, but probably wont be hard now.

Hard raid with 32's will probably be equivalent in difficulty to normal raid as all 31's (since I'm assuming Crota et al will be 33's). So yeah, it'll be a bit tricky, just cause for example you will have to do well with every sword on Crota or might as well wipe.

And if they update VoG weapons should they update the difficulty as well? Eager to try it again but I've heard it's easy as crap for 30+'s. So it'll just basically be a loot pinata (credit to datto for the phrase)...

im sure my raid will still be cheesing through...

solo the lamp session... rapidly spawn bridge and 2 people cross (or solo it), other suicide, etc.

If VoG weapons are 331, I hope there will be a way to upgrade existing VoG weapons, like with commendations or something. I'll be mad if I have to get them all over again. The ones I care about are VoC, Fatebringer, AE, Praedyth's Revenge and Corrective Measure.

I am not sure what you mean about 2nd part. They said every player will have to cross the bridge...

You say the cheese will be infinite but face it, when they stopped cheesing of Atheon or Templar for example people never found a good way around it...yeah there might still be some chesese but when it's harder than just doing it legit (like pushing Atheon off middle) it wont catch on or be useful.

Solo lamp session, not needed on normal. 5 players dont want to sit around bored unless it's absolutely necessary...

I am sure there will be more cheese found, but we will see if it's actually useful cheese. Judging by VoG it shouldn't be too hard to eliminate the Big Cheese (heh). The little cheese that dont get much advantage can remain.

Not sure why you guys are confused about VoG weapons, the quote is pretty clear - exotic weapons will drop as 331 max level. VoG raid weapons aren't exotics.

Was just watching Datto's vid and he emphasizes only EXOTICS will drop 331 in VoG. Not sure where he got this info yet but I assume it's correct.

I like that, dont necessarily want Fatebringer et al to be the best forever...and like you wasn't necessarily looking forward to regrinding for those old weapons.

Edit: My bad guess I just never read it right the first time, not sure how I missed that.

So, I finally did the 3 dark below missions. Pretty lame DLC. The leaks of the next ones make it sound like they'll be a lot more involved.

I mean, you get a mission where Rasputin is revealed to be
some important computer system that defends the Earth, but all it does is play classical music
. Nothing really happens. You just kill some enemies, mission accomplished. As much as I enjoyed playing the game for a while, now the reasons to come back to it are pretty limited, unless they add new types of enemies, some real interesting story content, or some new mechanics to the game.

Yeah, I agree the Dark Below Missions just seem like enemies spammed at you. And usually they are short with few actually new environments. I'm not one for lazy dev comments but in this case it actually seems to hold some truth.

The basic gameplay of Destiny though imo is a lot of fun so that's what redeems the Dark Below missions, if they are redeemed. It's kind of hard to screw up.

I think Bungie's idea of a new gameplay innovation for Dark Below is those green pools that stick on the ground and hurt you. I just find those super annoying.

I do kind of like how, like the Omnigul strike, they seem more into forced shorter range encounters. A lot of FPS including Halo seem to devolve into "stay as far away as possible and snipe everything" as the only best tactic. Anytime I need to choose a fusion rifle rather than a sniper as my special, basically.

I think the 500 employees and the work of Destiny was on the art and graphics side. But there isn't so much quantity of pure square area. But there is a lot, too, if you think about it, that artists had to hand create and it's so detailed and gorgeous. Check out the detail on Venus sometime.

The Dark Below missions were not only few, but very short, mostly taking place in old environments, and then unlocking a couple of new rooms. You pretty much fought the same enemies as the normal campaign. There wasn't much of a story to speak of. I mean, the 3 missions took me maybe 30-45 minutes to play. I guess there's a strike to do, but that's about it. Pretty terrible value, but I already had the season pass.

It seems bungie just posted a "profanity" in their weekly update? "Your Mom" and blow reddit's 1st page.
i dont really know thats a profanity or just silly sayings. It does not have any special meaning in my culture :/

@Rangers
The cheese is needing all "alive" party to cross the bridge but much faster than doing it legit. Basically you just walk in-and-out of the circular sygil and Voila! The bridge happened. So its much faster to do solo. Then after reaching other side and ogre appears, friends join the game.

about cheesing VoG. My raid still cheese templar but karma hit us, Templar cheesed us back lol (it keeps casting detain and wont stop teleporting).

About Atheon. its already easy to beat so yeah.. no cheese necessary.

About the green pool... it does not effect gameplay at all. i just jump pass it. Even when i sit on it, the damage take a couple of seconds to register.

@Scott_Arm
that mission is cutted/gutted/unfinished.

i have explored rasputin vault and there were 2 location that was blocked but they are there.
1. right under rasputin.
This room is fully modeled.

2. beside the locked vault door that you can see when go straight instead turning to rasputin room.
This have 3 rooms and 3 more vault doors. Cant peek inside at all.

extra room
in "The Grottos" there were new rasputin Door that lead to new cave that really empty and lead to another rasputin vault door that did not load the next map.

about rasputin do "nothing". Yeah that "super computer" is just an MP3 player :/
same with other stuff in destiny that actually never experienced by the players.
- Exclusion zone (what? the zone where Guardians casually stroll?)
- The Darkness that is big bad menace. While in gameplay its actually the guardians that the big bad menace, heck the mission objective is dark! "Slaughter the hive" etc.
- Apparently earth have an array of defense satelite that do nothing except crashing into earth in "Warsat" public events.

I guess my standards for DLC are high after Borderlands 1 and 2. I thought Bungie would deliver, but they failed. I actually think the standalone game is good value. I got quite a bit of play out of it for my money. So far, DLC gets a failing grade, big time.

There is 2 more missions. Related to the bounty.

Not sure about sniper since I never used it after I got the shotgun, I think it's just the scope that makes it look different at least that's how it is for other weapons.

The DLC drove me to quit the game.
Frankly I found it insulting. There is a tonne of things I could list, here are the major ones:

People managed to glitch into Rasputin's core room in the alpha. The 'major' new room wasn't even new.
The single new enemy wasn't new, it was just a reskin with the same behavior.
It had no pacing; you are being attacked the moment you spawn in the first mission and it's just linear drudge from then. Almost no travelling. It's insane that it'd have been better with a “defend dingle while he scans” section.
The VO and script was appalling. It somehow made the main game's exposition-based-motivation issues significantly worse.

Also **** the nonsense new materials. Commendations? Damn it. I'd saved up a huge stack of vanguard/crucible marks, and setup both to be close to a new level (as I'd read that faction level-up gave commendations... nope.). Ohh yay all my grinding is blocked by some arbitrary currency that I have no bloody clue how to get. What an amazing and rewarding experience.

I love the gameplay. It's sublime. But I can't stand the free-to-play style skinnerbox crap layered on top.
Throw out the light system, it's the fundamental flaw of the game. Unlock everything at level 20 and make everything beyond cosmetic with minor perks. Maybe we'll actually see some variety and personalization in the game. There'll be no artificial gating based on light level. No stupid artificial damage scaling. No unbalanced PvP. Players will experience what they want how they want! You can have well balanced “easy, medium, hard” for all content instead of “20, 23, 26, 29”.
Bungie clearly don't trust that their core mechanics are good enough to sustain the user base, so they have layered on all this garbage - and frankly I think long term it'll hurt the game and alienate their fans. I saw the writing on the wall, and I've got out before it frustrates me so much I can only see it impacting my health negatively.
