Cricket World Cup 2007

just thought of a statistic only those countries that have crickets as the national sport australia. west indies, pakistan, india + sri lanka have won the worldcup.

the 3 other main ICC members that havent won the WC, namely england, NZ + SA cricket is not the national sport

Cricket is our national sport. Just depends which nation you're referring to. We have several national sports you see, which could well explain why we suck donkeys at all of them :/

Talking of England, Freddie Flintoff was a big dissapointment. And England poaching on some Scotish players was hilarious too.

There's all sorts of stuff wrong with the England team, mental and motivational stuff mostly.

And England poaching on some Scotish players was hilarious too.
Well it usually works the other way round (especially in eg. football), some random no-name English player whose not good enough to get in the England team (a LOL! in itself) ends up playing for Papua New Guinea because his grandmother once looked it up on the map.

The eligibility rules for most national sports seem to be pretty aribitrary. Stick with country of birth, or allow open season, one or the other, everything else is just random.

true like nz, but by national sport i mean the normal definition 'the single most important sport' which in england is football (compare the coverage in england of cricket vs football ), in nz + SA its rugby, oz its cricket ( union, league + oz rules are only predominant in a few states, cricket is the only nationwide huge sport )

they really are joke, though country of birth aint good, i know lotsa ppl that were born in oz but came to nz at the age of 5 + consider themselves kiwis + visa versa. in fact the first 3 years of your life arent really important. it should be the country where youve spent most of your life in.
thus rolf harris sorry youre english :p

The West Indies isn't a country ;)

And depending on who you ask, football is the national sport for several countries in the Caribbean.

true but depending on who u ask is open to interpretations.
an odd fact, here in nz more ppl play football than rugby (yet football hardly rates a mention in the paper, even the football worldcup final would prolly find itself on page 5 of the sports section)
oh well the cricket WC done + dusted ive already got a bet on the next major worldcup
(great odds nz pays $1.40, the thing is for the upcoming trinations nz's paying $1.37 hmmm whoops)
