Take all the following with a solid grain of salt. These rumors are not mine, but are from a message board I often frequent here in Japan. An individual who has been posting there for quite some time always claims he works for Sony, though he never specifies in what context. He has made numerous predictions/claims in the past, but the problem is, not all of them have come to pass.

A few of the things he was right on were the exclusion of the online mode in GT4, PS2 exclusivity for Soul Caliber 3, nVidia partnership with Sony on PS3 GPU and the specific game reels that ran at Sony's 2005 E3 press conference, among other things.

Please, keep in mind however he has also made an almost equal number of claims that have turned up to be false. He's hit and miss, and the board seems to approach all his claims as such.

AGAIN, THESE ARE NOT RUMORS THAT I MYSELF HAVE SUBSTANTIATED, NOR ARE THEY TO BE AUTOMATICALLY CONSIDERED TRUE BY ANY MEANS.

Now, let's have some speculative fun:

-PS3 Value bundle (ala PSP) will be released at launch with HDD of undecided size. No pricing revealed.
-No RSX details revealed.
-A few PS3 tech specs will change, unknown which and if for the better or for the worse.
-2 Namco titles announced for Japanese launch.
-Koei reveals its 2 PS3 launch titles, Dynasty Warriors 6 and Nobunaga's Ambition.
-3 Sega titles announced for Japanese launch, reveals that none of their arcade boards are PS3-based.
-2 Square Enix titles announced for release within first 6 months in Japan (titles are neither Dragon Quest nor Final Fantasy).
-Final Fantasy XIII and Dragon Quest IX to be PS3 exclusive, release dates unknown.
-Winning Eleven 10 exclusive to PS2 and PS3 in Japan.
-7 new game announcements from unknown studios (unknown how many for PS2, PSP or PS3).

There are other rumors, but they mainly pertain to the PS2 and PSP, so I figured I wouldn't bother posting those.

Will these come true? Who knows, but knowing this individual's history, it is wise to remain skeptical, and not jump to conclusions.

Oh and please, no 360 vs. PS3 discussion here, it just isn't needed.

The meetings' July 21st, and I think that would actually be plenty of PS3 information to have there at the meeting. Obviously I'm in no position where I would know what's true and what's not, but I've been saying for awhile that I believe an HDD will be bundled with PS3's at launch, if not by Sony itself a la 'value pack' then by the retailers (because you know they love bundles also).

That would be strong SquareEnix support to put into the minds of gamers if those rumors came to pass as well... very strong defense against those Mistwalker titles + 360.

PS - A PS3 version of Nobunaga's Ambition would completely rule.

RSX info would be nice, so I kinda hope this isn't true

But yeah, I do think announcements of this type and number would be plenty for a meeting of this type. This meeting isn't just about PS3, and it's not long since E3.

Interesting. I wonder if they'll include a Spider-Man 2(or similar big movie) Blu-Ray disc for the first 1 million units? That would be awesome :D

Please post! my PSP is in need of some good news! :(

Hmm... I could very well cope with a Tekken 5 Tag Tournament on PS3's launch day... :D

More from our (hopefully truthful) insider:

-Winning Eleven only exclusive to PS2/PS3 in Japan. US versions and Pro Evo in Europe not exclusive.
-Release windows for PS3: Japan and US simultaneous = Late Spring/Early Summer 2006. Europe/Australia = Fall 2006.
-Resident Evil series in development for PS3 and PSP.
-Itagaki and Team Ninja developing 2 titles for PS3, unknown which or if exclusive or ports.
-PS3 console design getting a slight overhaul, controller design likely to remain.
-Silent Hill 5 in development for PS3, exclusivity undecided.
-Atlus, From Software and Q Entertainment expected to announce titles in development.
-Second HDMI port may be removed.
-Mistwalker surprise announcement (not a Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey port).
-Level 5 to develop exclusively for PS3.

And for PSP fans:
-SCEI will release 45 more PSP titles by Fall 2006.
-Square Enix currently has 2 more PSP titles in development, besides FFVII:CC.
-PSP and PS3 will use same Live-esque service for online, PlayStation Network, which will launch in 2006.

At least with this 'rumor' the date of knowing is soon enough that this thread should be fresh enough in everyone's minds - and we can come back and assess this leaker's validity. I didn't have any solid expectations though one way or the other for this meeting initially, so at least now I have a mental framework of expectation; whether false or not who knows.

I wouldn't build expectation based on these. Playstation meetings are rarely "blowout" events, and the amount of stuff this guy is predicting is very suspicious.

These are megatons if true:

-Itagaki and Team Ninja developing 2 titles for PS3, unknown which or if exclusive or ports.
-Mistwalker surprise announcement (not a Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey port).

These are some of the Xbox360's main Japanese support. If people can get similar games from these same companies on the PS3, what would be the point?

He/she needs to be named, so we can ignore/pay attention next time they speak depending on outcome. I can't honestly see any reason to have PES exclusive in Japan but not elsewhere. If they write the game for XB360 why not sell it in Japan? (apart from the cost of printing may well be more than copies sell given a XB360 user base in the tens :p )

Colour me skeptical

Nah I'm not getting my hopes up - it's just that whereas before I was going to patiently wait for the event to see if anything new was revealed, now I have a number of items in checklist form to look out for. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best - that sort of thing. :)

I would honestly be surprised at this level of announcement as well, as it seems to be creeping up on the level of a TGS. BUT, in order to take some of the wind out of the XBox Summit, one might see a change of posture from Sony.

Basically I'm just glad the event's in four days. If everything this guy says turns out to be true, then that's huge instant credibility for future posts of his. And if it doesn't, then we know to ignore future information from that particular 'leaker.'

I highly doubt any of this is true . If things this big were being released we would be hearing about big announcments coming out way

Seems like a lot of info for PS3, I doubt half of that would be mentioned, because of KK's xbox stance of effectively killing off a machine.
I would think they would save most of those announcements for the timing of the x360. Being an xbox guy, I actually haven't heard of or played most of those titles...although I love the SH series and used to love the RE series (haven't played one in awhile).
