There seems to be a rather large consensus among the gaming community that the PS3 is the most powerful system. It's like they don't even give the X360 credit and the only thing it has going for it is it's software. I will agree that the Cell is powerful, but lets think about the architecture. Isn't power homogeneous to the architecture and not just how many gigaflops your processor can achieve when doing basic math operations, or sometimes even less than that. I hear this coming from industry professionals. I can't really say yet that the proof is in the pudding, aren't they jumping the gun just a little too much here? Have they bought in to the CELL is so awesome!!!!1111eleventy!!! syndrome? I have been seeing this lately from Game Informer, Game Trailers: Bonus Round, G4TV, and some of the other media outlets. Game Informer speaks for itself, but what about the others? Is anyone else seeing this? Maybe Cell is really amazing as it is hyped up to be, I don't know. What do you guys think?

Typical sony numbers games...

The 2.1 TFLOP number is often spouted from sony buy they don't want you the notice the "as fast as a 700Mhz Pentium 3 in general purpose code".

CELL is a monster at what they designed it for. High floating point performance. Too bad its slower than Broadway at general purpose code.

But it has enough upside so its not a problem.
