Call of Duty: Ghost (Consoles)

So possibly both bro-shooters will be sub-1080p perhaps 720p on XB1.

Though some rumors are floating around about a patch/update. I can't recall if it's for BF4 or COD. In either case, I highly doubt any patches will be released that increases resolution of a console game. It just doesn't happen so it seems way too wishful hoping on their part.

Looks like it's 720p for both on the xb1. Review embargo lifts on the 5th for the PS4 and the 12th for the xb1 because of the resolution issue.

Rumor has it the embargo is about something else entirely (something worse if you believe the chatter). Nobody's able to go into specifics because of NDAs, but it looks like it's going to be a pretty interesting next couple of weeks.

Seeing what Crytek and Turn 10 can do with the XB1, COD shouldn't have a problem hitting at least 900p, so if it is 720p, it seems like early platform tools problem and difficulty to maximize the hardware. The XB1 could prove less capable than the PS4 throughout the life of these consoles, but the difference shouldn't as big as what COD and Battlefield are rumored to be doing (720p vs 1080p).

I would also contend making XB1 games with the same resolution as 360 games is absolutely the wrong trade-off for these games, even if they look better than the 360 versions, but that's a technical and business decision that only these companies can make. MS is on the hook for allowing it too both in how they designed the hardware and the tools they made to exploit the hardware.

Ryse runs at half the framerate and Forza is not much an upgrade.

Forza looks way better than 360 Forza even if you think it's not a generational leap, which is somewhat subjective. They could make the XB1 COD basically an uprezzed 360 and that would be a better decision than 720p vs 1080p. Believe me, word will get out on this. It's partially a business decision. People get numbers even if they are relatively meaningless, just like 1080p screens on phones vs 720p (few people can really tell the difference). It's a numbers market. People don't understand blurrier textures, worse AA, and framerate drops, which is in the realm of DF analysis.

Doing that would probably strip too much and not make for a similar experience regardless of resolution.

I just bought MW3 last night. It's...simply...not good. Hard to put my finger on it, but it's a bit ugly, the audio's kind of crappy, the map design is frustrating, and the lag compensation feels worse than BlOps2's.

I'm just not inclined to get Ghosts now. I'm overall satisified with Treyarch's output, but I already didn't care for IW due to MW2, and the post-drama version of the company seems to be even worse.

What is going on? So much confusion around this right now.
They're making a new COD. It's going to have guns with no recoil, game-killing killstreaks, overpowered perks, and gaggles of 12-year-olds who ignore objectives because they're trying to make sick 'tages of 720 nosk0pz.

Rumour is MS has embargo on the XBOne version till the 12th while embargo lifts for everything else on 5th.
Btw, what is this new trend of not letting the reviews out till launch date? First Warfighter last year, then Arkham Origins this year, but we can understant the publishers lack of confidence in those products, but this is COD. Are they afraid of a backlash ? All,the videos till now have shown a standard COD, nothing to worry about. Weird !

EDIT: and I don't mean the embargo till 12th new gen versions can take their time, I mean the embargo till 5th, the launch date.

From gaf. Looks like the extinction mode is actually real and is unlocked after completing the campaign.

Is there no spec ops mode this time? I really liked playing that in split-screen with my nephew and friends.

I'm not sure what the big deal is , sony also has an embargo for the ps4. It just so happens that the 5th is 10 days from the 15th. While the 5th is 17 days away from the 22nd.

MS has some big patches coming out for the OS and apparently even some games will require a day one patch.

What difficulty???
Yes, Keiji Inafune said that it is easy to develop for both platforms.

If you get down to the tiny details then maybe each is better at one thing than the other, but it doesn’t really impact the way you make a game. It’s not like PS4 or Xbox One are particularly hard to develop for. Quite the opposite: you can make whatever you want on either one, and that should be enough for anyone.

If the rumours are to be believed the main advantage of the PS4 version would be resolution, while the best thing about the Xbox One version would be the dedicated servers.

None of them bothers me much, but 3D support is something I truly fancy.

I even mentioned in my post that I am not questioning the MS embargo,I am questioning the embargo till 5th, launch date of the game.
