Burnout 3 revealed.

Even taking into consideration the nice doctored up dev shots, those screens look really nice. I quite like the more subdued colouring this time around, gives it a slightly more gritty look.

Also with BO2 PS2 vs Xbox, the Xbox version's motion blur was nowhere near as impressive as it is on PS2 during a burnout. Infact on the Xbox it's almost non-existant.

And something I'd like to share, more of a dream I have -

Given the performance Criterion can squeeze out of PS2 (and Xbox) and the fact that they're in bed with EA - it's time for Criterion to develop the next Road Rash game. :devilish:

u're kidding right.... I had "one of them" on Genesis and the series went downhill quickly. Although i must admit i did enjoy that one game i had on the Genesis...

Also, WRT B3 shots, i think that, apart from the obvious 8x10^18 AA, those shots are very doable on PS2, just have a look at the non-stellar textures... I think that Ps2 will be the reference platform anyway, i'm not sure they're re-work all the textures just for the Xbox port, considering they look decent enough already... The crashes and the damage models look even better now, whatever platform those shots are from!

The series went downhill? Clearly you never played the 3DO version, or the Saturn/PS1 conversions of the 3DO game. Easily the highlight of the series.

Well I hope that doesn't turn out to be the case. This will probably raise the ire of a few people around here, but it bothers me when that kind of thing happens.

Errr... that's what i was talking about... I think the last great one was the 3DO version... Oh well... Beating the crap out of the other riders was cool.

We'll see... I think a layer of Detail textures will do a pretty good job on top of the existing PS2 textures... Added to the higher res reflections that are expected and all other Xbox freebies, it will be worth a look. Or that's my guess... B2 was reportedly more detailed on Xbox than on PS2, i expect the same thing to happen here too, they have the resources after all...

Really? This is the first I've heard about that. Actually, now that I think about it, in the reviews you rarely hear that PS2 version has something better visually, even if it is true. I remember that pretty much everyone insisted that Fatal Frame 1 looks better on the Xbox, and now that someone here actualy played both versions side by side, it turns out that it isn't true. Same for SSX3, where most reviews proclaimed the Xbox version to be the best looking, probably by a knee jerk reaction, and not actual comparision, because when you compare them on the same TV, they all look exactly the same in every way, except for the extra lighting effects present only in the PS2 version (that look really cool btw). I know it's rare that such thing happens, but even when it happens, it's like as if it's a herecy to speak up about it :)

I never understood why they never release Road Rash this gen, it was such an addicted game on PS1 (Road Rash 3D and Jail Break). I wish they make one this gen.

There's a couple of EA franchises from the 16/32bit eras that I was hoping we'd see on the current batch of machines by now -

Road Rash
Desert/Jungle/Urban/Soviet/Nuclear Strike
Mutant League games

Kind of un-EA to let these franchises sit on the sidelines and not be milked.

Heck, they do have new franchises to milk now... look at the uber-milking in the NFS, LOTR, SSX, the sports range, i mean, i know it's EA, but their resources are not unlimited...

One thing i loved about Road Rash (the one i played on Genesis) is that when u hit someone, it really feels like hitting them. It felt great, the sounds were great, especially with the chain and the club
