Brink: Splash Damage latest FPS (Thread features DeanoC as master of secrets)

Looks interesting now! The style is cool too, being a not too cartoony amalgamation of TF2 + Gears of War + maybe a bit of Crysis. I must admit I'm getting a little sick of the "I'm super badass" look.

First ingame footage!

Wow, am I the only person to think that has the potential to look amazing? The comments in the GAF thread that I saw werent gushing over the graphics too much, I dont get it.

I was not expecting much when I heard it was built on Id Tech 4, but that looks like it could look amazing.

great!! looks phantastic (mind you: Mirrors Edge is one of my favorite games, with respect to graphics and gameplay!)..color me hooked!

About graphics, I suppose that this was the PC version, so difficult to judge for the console...

Well you have the A button of 360 in the back right corner, after the load of the airport.

gfx looks pretty good imo, smart is awesome it really is. It can change whole experince a lot fluid combat ftw. I dont like "bob" chars moves to much left-right while going forward imo.
Afterall looks very good cant wait for demo hopefully MP.

Character design looks more like Borderlands than Gears, though environment graphics reminds me of Killzone 2, due to lighting.

Anyway at this point, my main issue with the game is the publisher.
Has Bethesda ever picked up any decent game?

The free movement was kinda neat looking. But was I the only one that found it quite odd that the flight schedule kiosk/signs were still lit up and populated with information despite the fact the airport hasn't been used in 20 years?

The security sensors I can kinda understand if the airport is being used as a base or something for baddies... But I just found the powered up signs and kiosks of a place deserted for 20 years really at odds with this supposedly originating from a "green" society.

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how this turns out. Hopefully more like a traditional FPS and less like Mirror's edge. I didn't much like Mirror's edge...

Regards,
SB

Reminds a bit of Mirrors Edge too. Also almost looks cel shaded.

The more times I've watched the trailer the more impressed I am. Cant wait. Just hope future looks at the game live up to that, graphically and otherwise.

The detail is great and the post processing looks nice. The framerate looked like it was still in progress so I am hoping for a locked 30fps when it is released. The mechanics for smart movement looked good; it will be interesting to see if they have any cover mechanics like RB6 or KZ2 integrated in. As a general preference I hope MP doesn't require so many bullets to down enemies.

Another new video...good grief it looks absolutely sick! I am on this game like Donkey Kong. Double shame about the delay now.

I'm seeing a lot of Killzone 2 in it now too..the M-16 model and motion blur, very similar. More X360 buttons in this vid as well.

WOW!!! This looks phenomenal! Graphics are mighty fine. I really hope that the PS3 can keep with the pace...

Killzone 2 + Mirrors Edge = me gonna buy!

Aaargh, I'm gutted as i tried viewing the videos all night last night but they didn't show up.

From the little I saw it looked immense. I'm definitely looking forward to this game :)

Hmm, question to the tech pros here: as Brink is an drop in/out online/offline game, I suppose that the engine does not differentiate if the player is offline or online.
Devs said here in this forum, that for additional features (such as voice chat, friends list and this stuff) the PS3 needs additional resources, i.e. additional memory, and thus widening the gap to the Xbox360 with respect to available memory.

For games like Brink with drop in/out offline/online gameplay, multiplatform parity seems to be more difficult to achieve compared to games, where the SP and MP are strictly separated?

My wife said "Apparently this game is not for girls" (as the models were all dudes they showed in the smart video) And something about thuggery, but the smart thing seemed kind of cool. It depends how often it does what you want. The premise is nifty I hope it does well.

Isn't LBP's MP drop-in/drop-out?

Also, didn't Saint's Row 2, which is a multiplatform title, also do drop-in/drop-out?

Sounds like a bit of a reach there Billy, as i'm sure there are a few drop-in/drop-out MP games on PS3.

I can't see why any more resources would be necessary than what's available with the system already???

Maybe I'm not fully understanding your post?
