Bloodborne: [PS4] (From Software)

Started with the Cane last night, played for an hour or so bought all the inital armour/clothes but I haven't beaten the first mob yet, the one around the fire with some beasts slamming on the door. With the WHip attack, I can't really tell where it will hit, but it can ake down 4 guys in a go if it connects correctly.

How are you guys beating the mob, btw? The only way I see is taking my time and luring each guy away and killing him.
Definitely don't try and fight them all at once. Look for opportunities to peel off one or two at a time. Use pebbles to agro guys one at a time.

Against the mob game is not so difficult. You just need to be patient and learn reach of attack each mob and be cautious when you meet a group of mob. It is not like you need to master 20 combos. It is not just easy and assist like modern game.

I am only at the beginning and never met a boss. :)

Oh come on, the loading times hardly make it a technical mess. Compared to most other recent AAA game releases the game seems rather polished.

In a game where dying a lot is part of the mechanism, for me a super long load screen after each death (they don't even display some funny things) is a technical mess....half of my time I stare at 'Bloodborne' screen. 45s after death is a lot and unacceptable imo. Also, shimmering and framerate issues.

PS: The most recent AAA game I played was The Order, which is technically perfect imo. Did not play Unity because it is a mess.

Granted, the loading times are pretty bad, and I seriously hope they can be improved. Still, it's just one aspect of a big-ass package. Framerate seems perfectly fine to me. But then I don't see in digitalfoundry measuring tools-o-vision, so that might have something to do with it;) The horror that is shader aliasing is a capital offense obviously. Fucking Japanse, ey? Why can't they just follow suit and develop sad little movies like their Western peers? I mean think of all the graphics you could care for if you didn't have to worry about gameplay?;)

Framerate is correct much better than other soul's game. I hope they will eliminate framepacing at least and improve long loading time, the only big weakness of the title.

Agreed. They really could've put a little more effort into that bloody loading screens. Heck, at least they could've put in the item desciptions like they used to in past games.

...didn't have to worry about gameplay

ha ha ha, if From would care about gameplay (and game design), they would consider intermediate checkpoints

Controversial opinion following: From Software games are only difficult, because they don't have intermediate save points or checkpoints. Gameplay is standard difficulty. But having to replay basically the whole game to get to the boss again (over exaggerating in case someone is wondering) is what I call artificial difficulty, maybe even bad game design. This is also the reason why it takes 20 hours to finish this game instead of 8 hours...e.g., divide the number of checkpoints of The Order by a factor of 100 people would love it for being super difficult and taking 15 hours to beat (include a long ass loading screen then it will take even 20h like Bloodborne!).

ha ha ha, just messing around guys. To be honest, I can't wait to play more of Bloodborne! This game to me is much better than Demon Souls and Lords of the Fallen (the only games in this genre I have played). The setting is fantastic. The graphics are super nice. I love all the objects and that it is possible to destroy so many of them. This is something The Order could learn from Bloodborne...interactive objects. Fast paced combat is much better to me. Weapons are really interesting and diverse so far. I like how one discovers all the short cuts to make the way to bosses or so much quicker. also shows how well designed the world is imo. Up to now, I love the game. Although I am afraid that it will get to tough later on for me

All kidding aside, most of what you've just said isn't exactly wrong or controversial. (save for the standard difficulty bit probably: getting roughed up by starting area mobs or standard mobs in general is a very uncommon thing in modern games) The Souls games are indeed difficult because they deliberately omit convenient safety nets and don't tutorialize the hell out of everything. Of course the whole ordeal would be an awful lot less daunting if you hit a checkpoint after every enemy encounter.

For all my enthusiasm, i seem to be th eonly one stuck at the very first mob. I have only played twice, yesterday and today, but I am just getting beat trying to thin that mob !

Whats wrong with me !

I do take them out step by step. When I see that an enemy recognises me, I try to pull him with me and back off, such that other enemies don't get aggressive. Then, take 1-2 out at one time. It takes a bit patience, but it is doable if you really take this fight as serious as a boss fight in another game :)

Later on, I just run past this mob up the stairs then through the gate...no need to mess around with the mob all the time!

I also use the cane, but I typically use it in its standard form, not the whip form...I just like the faster attacks more.

Yeah, but it makes things like opening a shortcut incredibly satisfying.

I was actually thinking about it last night and I think one of the reasons you have to load back to the Hunters Dream before enemies will respawn is to discourage too much farming. They easily could have made the lamps work like bonfires so you can just walk up to one and get your convenient farming loop enemies back, so the load times actually serve as a disincentive to cheese the system.

I just booted it up for 5 minutes in the morn, just to try and guess what, I just ran through them  and found th ethe shortcut. I don't think this strategy will last for long, but it is what it is right now ! Also, I too use the Cane form, the whip form is amazing but i feel unsure with it.

When th ehell can I level up !??

Do you get items from the crates, coffins, piles of books etc.. Is there any reason to keep smashing the environment or am I just degrading my weapon for nothing.
I keep destroying them but haven't found anything in them yet.
I'm still at very beginning of the game... can't get past the first group of people with forks and torches  but I really haven't had much time to play.

It's a funny game, I like and keep thinking about it and want to keep playing but at the same time it makes me want to play other games more.
I want to play Dragon Age Inquisition, everybody is so nice in that game, even the dragons

When you get your first Insight point, you can level up in the hunters dream...
