With Steinman downed, your first couple hours of BioShock come to an end. It certainly felt more like a shooter than you expected it to -- or, more appropriately, more like an action game. That's no criticism of the gunplay, but with so many other options and limited gun ammo in many areas, the game certainly encourages you to play with different ways to approach scenes.
So while there's been a lot of talk about whether BioShock is more of a shooter or more of an RPG, it seems -- in the first few hours, at least -- to be a first-person action game that involves a lot of shooting, but involves a lot of other stuff as well.
In the first couple hours, the game looks incredible, controls very well, has fantastic pacing and atmosphere, and yet still feels like it's just getting started. Now the challenge is on for the rest of the game.
