Still waiting to Dice to remove the blur filter on the PS4.
After the COD PS4/X1 and AC4 PS4/X1 comparisons shots everywhere I can conclude than BF4 is anormally blurred. Always the "soft blur" from the reliable Digital Foundry. Neither DF nor IGN nor the others websites did blur on purpose the PS4 version. I kind of insist on this fuzzy point but:
We can clearly see the textures on the guy's face are a bit sharper on PS3 vs PS4:

Here the cables on PS3 are better antialiased and look sharper on PS3 when the whole image has the same sharpness roughlty between the two:

All the comparisons everywhere show the same anomaly on PS4, not present on the version of AC4 or COD even when opposed to the sharpened and crushed black X1.
I know there are post effect on games nowadays: FXAA, motion blur, upscaling. But here it is too much. What the point of rendering 900p if the PS3 at 700p looks as much sharp or even sharper on some assets?

What do you mean? What do COD and AC4 have to do with BF4? They're totally different games from totally different developers.

I don't know if they changed anything for retail, but I've played BF4 on my buddies PS3 and I have BF4 for PS4 and the difference is night an day. The PS4 version does not look soft at all. Also played a bit of BF4 on my buddies high-end PC and they look very much the same, save for the AA.

On the ps3 they are using dedicated servers unlike Ghosts ! BF3 also was all dedicated servers only.
Of course. It was about the fact that the anormal blur was not there on pre-patched 720p COD PS4 screens vs post-patch, roughly the same level of details. So the anormal blur did not come from allegedly bad PS4 upscaling (like assumed by DF) but is obligatory a blur effect added (on top of the FXAA)by DICE.
But only on PS4 version.
Anyway apparently, on real TV the game looks similar to PC and is sharper than on PS3. I guess I will have to see myself eventually.
Only had a chance to play 1 map online for the Xbox One. I had a lot of fun with it. Played conquest, so it was 64 players. Pretty intense. I think the visuals are great. Definitely a big jump from last gen. Played a bit of the campaign too, and that looked nice as well. Maybe more later tonight. Depends when I get home.
Had to switch up the vehicle controls for the ground and air vehicles, because wtf. The new control scheme is awful. Veteran is infinitely better. Especially in helicopters. Had to switch helicopter to veteran and southpaw, because it feels a lot more intuitive to have pitch on the right stick. I mean, pitch is like looking up and down, which is a right stick control in every single shooter you'll ever play. No idea why they default to pitch on the left stick.
Also, I suck at this game. I really really suck. Haven't played a competitive shooter since about this time last year. I didn't hang on to BF3 very long. My aim is really bad right now. So far I do my best in a tank. Some people may not be surprised to hear that.

I thought so earlier, but when I tried the new controls a bit further, everything changed.
The new controls are much more intuitive for the chopper as they control exactly like you would control a RC toy chopper ! Left stick is throttle, right is pitch. For the first time in BF I can fly a chopper now :smile: ! BTW< practice in the Test Range, one can panic in a MP natch and loose control.
Weird - did anyone else lose their progress in story mode on the Ps4? i played the game thursday evening pretty far (4th chapter), then lots of online today and now that i wanted to continue the story mode, the game is convinced i have no save file and asks me to start a new one.
I even downloaded and overwrote my local game save with the one from the online data storage (which had the correct date and all) but it still thinks i have to start fresh? nice...
Anyone else had this happen to them?

Happened to me twice on the ps3. I gave up.
Xbox One game update coming focussing on stability and performance. Crash bugs should be gone. It'll be interesting to see what the performance is.
