Battlefield 4 official discussion/thread. [PS4,XO,PS3,X360]

It appears he only has access to PS4 MP and XB1 SP - if the SP portion was better looking than the MP portion it wouldn't raise any eyebrows as that is was you'd expect.

The fact it's causing such a stir would seem to indicate the opposite!

Why is that the case? KZSF sp is 30fps. The mp is 60fps. I don't think you can automatically assume that the sp mode will be better than the mp mode. It kinda makes sense that the sp mode should be WORSE than the mp mode. In the sp mode, the console has to calculate the enemy ai. In the mp case, it does not.

Actual Xbox One footage. The video says it pretty clearly.

"In-game footage representative of Xbox One gameplay".

Representative != actual footage. Embargo for footage is at 12am EST, not long now for the truth....

I think the truth you mention holds a lot of less drama than what the Internet says but we shall see, it depends on many factors.

More Xbox One footage, this time from the multiplayer.

If it says "representative" then it is pc footage. We have seen enough X1 footage to not to be worried, i guess.
The game will look good, it isn't the first time that a game doesn't look exactly like it was advertised. The difference won't be that huge.

EDIT: Just checked the PSN order page for BF4, for ps3, and they have put PC version screenshots which are impossible on the ps3 there too. So, nothing new, they are using the PC version gfx to impress everywhere.

Finished the Single player campaign.

It's really short, only about 4 hours, and <1000 bad guys killed.

How was it? A lot of pc guys were also playing the game yesterday using korean VPN. oNe of them called the SP dull and boring but a jaw dropping tech showcase of Frostbite. Looks like it will make us happy for spending on our next gen systems.

Pretty much...... Good looking game ( Although still lacking compared to Crysis 3 ) with an average SP...

But it's BF..... Who the heck buys it for SP :p

PS4 MP looks great.

edit

I'd say pretty close to the PC.

A heavily scripted, tight environment SP can't look worse than the MP.
That assumes the solo game is crafted as a single player game with a single player engine, rather than just taking the multiplayer engine and grafting a solo campaign around it. If the latter (which makes sense, as BF4 is basically an online multiplayer game), then it's quite possible for the multiplayer and solo games to basically be the same thing, and so look better on one box. As the solo game is also only 4 hours long, I seriously doubt that any special attention was given to making a single-player enhanced engine. And given both single player and multiplayer run at 60 fps, there isn't a huge amount of room to improve things noticeably with the solo campaign even if Dice wanted to.

BTW< PSN preload has started for us.. THe game is smaller than BF3, its only 11.56GB. good for us who preordered the digital versions.

But still, a 64 player multiplayer match with any possible combination of vehicles, destruction and soldiers on screen at a time and a totally unpredictable set of events at any time can't really look better than a scripted sequence with known variables and few AI enemies on screen. .........Unless, DICE didn't care to make SP better , of course.

Anyways, saw a lot of PS4 MP videos and damn the game does look very awesome on next gen :p ! The water especially looks superb with those big ripples, muddy look and reflections ! But I wish they would have lessened the Aliasing. its jarring in an overall beautiful presentation. I wonder it would be even more on X1 MP.
