Battlefield 3 announced

updated but haven't been able to enter even a single game uptill now ! WOW ,PS3 experience is so so smooth, I click quick match and I am in instantly. Here, I have been trying for the past half an hour and nothing yet. Haven't even seen a single screen of the game ! :rolleyes: ! Maybe I should have stuck with the ps3 version.

Haven't gone past the "Joining Server" part even once !
 
Can you guys help here. Everytime I connect to a game, it says "Game disconnected. Could not join the server"
I have disabled allantiviruses and firewalls, yet ai cannot connect. I can play SP fine but I didn't buy it for that.

Funny thing is that the Beta ran fine on this same PC without any changes made to the system :unsure: ! What do I do?

manually update punkbuster. better yet, uninstall it and install it manually.

Uninstalled and used pbsetup to get it to date. Still the same error :( !
Spent the whole morning till afternoon but couldn't get into a amp match. Money wasted :( ! Never had any trouble with BF:BC2 on steam ! or BF3 on my PS3 !
 
After one of the updates I had to disable upnp on my router to be able to connect. I have no idea why but it helped.
 
Changed my DNS servers to Google DNS servers and installed punkbuster again and again. Finally the game decided to work and its pure bliss now ! If it had been an average guy he would have just returned the game. Lost my whole day trying to get it work, but thank God it works now.
The game feels so different from what I play on my ps3, yet one can see its the same maps. Can't wait to go to Karkand now !
 
What size servers are you playing on? Bigger servers sometimes lag - some of the providers seem to run them on machines that aren't really up to the task (or cram too many instances on them). Try some 32-player servers and look around for some different ones until you find one that's smooth. Then favorite it and keep going back :) That way you get to know the people who play on that server too, which makes everything more fun!
 
Yeah it was a bit spotty for me with UPnP on, so I disabled it as well. That said, I can't understand what the issue is here... I've had some peer-to-peer games have fewer connection problems! It's a dedicated server game where they control all the servers; there should be zero connectivity issues.
 
I don't get it either ! Especially cos it works flawlessly on the console ! I have never had to run around the net so much to get a game running before. Max things any game demanded till now was bypassing firewalls, etc. Having an MP focussed game make me run around for 3 days just to get it enter a match is ridiculOus ! If I wasn't a fan , I would have just gifted it to some friend and be done with it.
 
After 50hours and 50mins, I finally hit Colonel. Having now put some decent time into the game, I think the BF3 is best described a mix of BF and CoD series.

There are a LOT of great things about the game but the things that I find missing the most is the communication.

The lack of built in voice chat is just crippling for team strategy. It just it. The chat window is hard to follow and you're basically stuck with hoping the team/squad has the same thought process as you.

The first problem leads to the second, without built in voice, the Commander role would not be as effective and clearly the role is not impletmented.

I was hoping for an evolved BF3. What I got instead is a mix of CoD with BF elements. It'll still be my goto MP game but it could have been so much more.

If there is one thing I'd like to see implemented is built in voice chat with your team. That would really turn the gameplay around.

Anyone else experienced Metro CQ where you can drop through the floor? I saw it today for the first time since beta.
 
Frankly if there was built-in voice chat I would immediately turn it off. No offense to you folks, but the vast majority of people who play these games I have zero interest in speaking to ;) That said, I only ever play with 3+ friends so I can understand for those of you who don't have friends who play that it could be significantly less fun.

Still, friends is the way to go... so much better than voice chat and attempted coordination with random internet peoples.

I did some co-op and unlocked the MP7. Best. Weapon. EVER. Period. Even in the alpha/beta it was always my favorite, but it appears to have been nerfed a little, or at least it seems. Damage doesn't seem as high. Also, they remodeled the gun from the beta period and placed the target pointer on the other side of it. I kinda liked the old model with it on the left-hand side. Do yourselves a favor and unlock this gun. You won't regret it.

Speaking of co-op, I seriously hope they add the ability to chat with team mates during co-op, which would prove especially useful for public matchmakes. I was literally 99% done with one and I was gunned down requiring a revive. My stupid teammate didn't possess the intelligence to revive me, regardless of the fact that I brought him back five or six times, and we lost.

Also, what rank is the special operations camo unlocked at?

I'm using Steam to communicate and Origin to crash every now and then ...
