Sorry I was too much of a noob to figure out how to get voice working. I had the mic plugged in, joined the party but didn't realize there is another step of joining the voice party. I'll sign up on TOG today also.

The only thing I'm not happy about in BF3 is the lack of voice in game. It seems like general voice communication is not there and you have either join the voice servers (teamspeak) for that specific server or just your little party can start up their voice party but then you can't communicate with others.

Xbox Live is much more friendly and inviting in this regard. With Windows 8 and Live natively built in, I hope that streamlined functionality carries over to games.

btw, I'd been BF3 free since Halloween and just started back up this past week. My aiming was all over the place and then I saw an option for "network smoothing" once i turned that off, I was finally able to kill again. What a horrible feature. Karkand is amazing. Still the best BF map by far. Although I like Grand Bazaar a lot also.

is there a way to disable the sun flare effect in the console?
 
In the BF3 Config tool there is an option to disable 'enlighten' and the tool tip states that this tones down the lens flares.

...I thought enlighten was the radiosity solution though.

Rob, no worries. It's way better on teamspeak anyway. In game VOIP would be nice, but after never getting it working in BFBC2 I'm not hopeful it will be there in BF3.
 
Ok ! I have bf3 on ps3 and am getting it for PC today. Are the 64 player matches worth rebuying the game or they just chaos ? Do u guys love Playing 64 p srvers or avoid them?
 
I enjoy 64 player matches but only on the few really large maps (firestorm, caspian, etc). Otherwise I stick to 32 or even less (frankly Metro is the most fun with <=12 IMHO). That said, I'd definitely rebuy it on the PC even if you don't ever intend to play with >32 players. It's really not the same game on consoles; get some friends (from here even), squad up, and you'll love it on the PC :)

GOT IT :p ! Installing right now, then I'll update and play a little and then buy Back 2 Karkand and then I will play ........ A LOT ! :cool: !

Whoa : 4gb update ! Guess will have to play on ps3 tonite !

I think the 4gb update included B2K pack. The key you buy will just unlock it.
 
Latest nvidia drivers suck for BF3. The 290.53 ones.

They make Skyrim stable and perform better but all sorts of CTD with DirectX errors on BF3. Before anyone asks, no OC.

I'm going back to 290.36 which provided me with best stability in both game.

Wow I have had no such issues with .53.

While testing our new X79-based GPU test bed we continued to find that while playing Battlefield 3, frame rates would drop from 30+ to ~10 while running at 2560x1600 and Ultra quality presets. It could happen when walking down an empty hallway or in the middle of a huge dramatic shootout with some enemies. And sometimes, the issue would reverse and the frame rate would again jump back up to 30+ FPS.

I've had more CTD's with the .53 too. basically 1x per night. and exiting using ALT-F4 doesn't work anymore.. used to kill the game, now it crashes the game.
.36 were unusable because of text corruption.
 
Wow ! Origin is a mess man ! I had downloaded 3 gb of the update, ie 90%, and paused it as i had to shutdown my PC. Now, I resumed the download and it starts from 10% :oops: ! Where did all the other 2.5 gb go?????? Origin can't even pause and resume a download ???WTF?!?!

I hope its not bloating my HDD by redownloading and creating huge temp files. But seriously, it can't even pause and resume correctly and they offer it to retail customers !!!! :devilish:

It can, i've done that several times. You had some bug probably. And You can specify where Origin should download install files.
