Batman: Arkham Knight [PS4,XO]

I'm at 61%. The love the way the world is seamless, and you can have "stealth" areas on rooftops, instead of having to walk into special rooms that have vantage points. Everything just fits together. I'm not huge on the Batmobile battles, but it's nice to have the car in the game. The APC chases are ok, but they get repetitive. The combat is still a lot of fun. I'm playing on Hard, which I think is the only good way to play. There are more types of enemies in this one, and you really have to use all of your gadgets to manage the crowd, otherwise you're electrocuting yourself to death by accidentally hitting enemies with stun buttons, or getting destroyed by enemies with shields. The big guys aren't too hard to handle, except for the shortened window to counter. I will say that in this one you have to be more thoughtful about who you are attacking, and that sometimes highlights how weak the targeting system is in a large fight. I'm very much being a completionist and I have limited playtime, so it'll take me a while to get through, but so far the world is just realized so well, and the story is fairly interesting. Everything about it is good. I have no real complaints.

Actually ... one complaint that's really nitpicking ... is Gotham City in Iceland or something, because the night seems to have lasted for much more than a day.

So I booted this up just to see how good it looks (PS4) and I have to say it's very impressive...I had a quick glide around (not started playing yet) but I'm confused, you need to hold a button (with your thumb) to glide and therefore cannot look around whilst gliding...is that correct or am I missing something?

I agree that the targeting can be problematic.

The fact is that there is a "danger priority" logic so the game automatically targets/directs your attacks towards the most dangerous enemy in the direction you selected which often is not the enemy you really want to attack.
Example: in front of you there are 4 thugs and a brute, you decide to punch the thugs first to built up the combo BUT the game instead will direct you towards the brute that can't be punched...stupid!
Also the game logic won't target the "closest most dangerous enemy" but rather the the most dangerous enemy in the direction you are "aiming".
Example: a stun baton thug is right in front of you and it's about to attack, few meters behind him here is a brute, you quickfire the batarang or the electric charge logically expecting to strike the stun baton thug BUT instead you will hit the brute behind because the targeting logic decided so...again, stupid!

I am a completionist too but I can tell you that you can't upgrade everything in one go as in previous games :(
I managed to get as many XP as possible from every encounter but I still ended up short of 10-15 Wayne Points to upgrade everything :( (actually I didn't bother to upgrade HP for Batman or the Batmobile nor invested points into the traversal upgrades so I ended up with 65 unspent WP at the end of the game; I focused on gadgets, combat moves and batmobile weapons instead)

Press and hold L2, then use the left stick to look around (up and right/left) while gliding.

So I finally beat the
Arkham Knight tank fight.
It was really long, boring and frustrating - like most of the combat in the game. How much more of the main story do I have? I want to power through it and trade it in before the price tanks (pun intended!)?

You should probably go and trade it in now then if resale is your concern, and you're clearly unhappy with it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Youtube could probably fill in the rest of the story if that even matters.

I'm not unhappy with it, but everyone that has ever spoke about this boss fight has been negative. I'm not saying anything that hasn't been said before. I like the story, the chars, the traversal, the detective stuff and the stealth. I've only complained about the repetitive combat.

Does anyone who has played the game have an answer?

Suffice to say, a lot of the remainder of the game does involve the batmobile, unfortunately (really disappointing). :/ And the "complete" ending even requires you to finish off all the tedious crap from Riddler.

So....... yeah. I really don't think it's worth the "forced" playthrough.

Fucking Riddler trophies. That's one thing I don't really want to complete.

I liked the trophies in Arkham City. I take it you didn't like the Crackdown orbs either?

I actually do the riddler trophies when I find them, I just don't want to search for them all, especially if it involves backtracking.

What's that?

I don't see how the Riddler trophies are similar to Crackdown orbs.

Throughout the Assassin Creed areas there are arbitrary flags at various places, like rooftops or alley ways or patios. The latter series cut down on the number of them, but the first title had what seemed to be 1000 flags to collect. They were meant to get you to explore the various areas. The trouble was there was no way to mark them on the map so it was impossible to keep track of what you had or missed, especially when the buildings and landscape seemed very similar making it harder to distinguish which actual flag it was.

It was very tedious.

I can barely remember those, I did like the eagle sync places that unlocked the map, those were nice.

I'm glad there hasn't been more games pulling in that amount of collectables, under 100 seems to be passable, but anything over that seems excessive.

Here's the one aid I used to track the collection of the flags for the first Assassin's Creed -- http://www.assassinscreed-maps.com/Maps.htm

Btw, I don't mind riddler thing (although I would appreciate it more if they lessen the amount), but is there something like that anarchy logo thing (AO) in AK? Because I hate that. And if I'm not mistaken, you need 100% completion to get the real ending? Or you can catch riddler without completing all the challenges? Anyway, if I remember correctly, I did got 100% on AA and AC but not AO because of the requirement to get it. Hopefully it will be closer to AC instead of AO.

I didn't mind them in AA, but they eventually got tiresome in AC/AO, and it just became a way to get more EXP relatively early. The actual Riddler puzzle rooms were nice though.

Crackdown was fun for a while, but I got bored of the search and trials.
